Silica nanoparticles (SNPs) induce reproductive toxicity through ROS production, which significantly limits their application. The protective effects of taurine (Tau) against SNP-induced reproductive toxicity remain unexplored. So this study aims to investigate the impact of Tau on SNP-induced porcine ovarian granulosa cell toxicity.

Children with Group 3 medulloblastoma (G3 MB) have a very poor prognosis, and many do not survive beyond 5 years after diagnosis. A factor that may contribute to this is the lack of available targeted therapy. Expression of protein lin-28 homolog B (LIN28B), a regulator of developmental timing, is upregulated in several cancers, including G3 MB, and is associated with worse survival in this disease.

Objective: The mechanisms underpinning Moyamoya disease (MMD) remain unclear, and effective biomarkers remain unknown. The purpose of this study was to identify novel serum biomarkers of MMD.

Methods: Serum samples were collected from 23 patients with MMD and 30 healthy controls (HCs).

Ambient particulate matters (PMs) have adverse effects in human and animal female reproductive health. Silica nanoparticles (SNPs), as a major component of PMs, can induce follicular atresia via the promotion of ovarian granulosa cell apoptosis. However, the molecular mechanisms of apoptosis induced by SNPs are not very clear.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Jiarong Sun"

  • - Jiarong Sun's research focuses on the impact of silica nanoparticles on reproductive health, particularly investigating the mechanisms of ovarian granulosa cell toxicity and the potential protective role of taurine against silica nanoparticle-induced damage.
  • - Sun has also contributed to understanding pediatric medulloblastoma, specifically the LIN28B-let-7-PBK pathway's role in tumor growth and survival, emphasizing its implications for developing targeted therapies for this aggressive cancer.
  • - Additionally, Sun's research explores potential biomarkers for moyamoya disease by identifying novel serum markers, which could enhance understanding and diagnosis of this complex condition.
