We analyzed data from 486,414 participants in the UK Biobank cohort to explore the association between domestic hard water exposure and the incidence of psoriasis. Methods: A time-stratified case-crossover study with a two-stage analytical approach was conducted to investigate the association between ambient PM pollution and schizophrenia admissions (an indicator for acute schizophrenia episodes) across 259 Chinese cities of prefecture-level or above during 2013-2017. A conditional logistic regression model was constructed to estimate city-specific changes in hospital admissions for schizophrenia associated with per interquartile range (IQR) increase in ambient PM, and the overall associations were obtained by pooling the city-specific associations using the random-effects model.

A novel common-aperture miniaturized antenna with wideband and dual-polarized characteristics is proposed, which consists of a circularly polarized (CP) and a linearly polarized (LP) antenna. The circularly polarized antenna stacked on the upper layer adopts asymmetrical ground and introduces the patch and T-type feed network. On this basis, the meshed reflector structure, which also works as a ground plane for the LP antenna, is added to reduce the influence on circular polarization and achieve directional radiation.

The extreme environmental conditions of the Qinhai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) challenge livestock survival and productivity, yet little is known about how high-altitude environments impact the gut microbiota of dairy cows. To fill this gap, we systematically investigated the differences in the hindgut microbiome between 87 plateau Holstein cows and 72 plain Holstein cows using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Our analysis revealed that the hindgut microbiota of the plateau group exhibited lower species richness but higher evenness than that in the plain group.

Manufacturing of metallic components using additive manufacturing technique is of great interest for the industrial applications. Here, the mechanical and microstructural responses of a 316 L stainless steel (316LSS) built by selective laser melting (SLM) with XOY and XOZ directions were revealed by performing in situ neutron diffraction tensile tests. The tensile strength of the XOY-printed samples reaches 700 MPa, while the tensile strength of the XOZ-printed samples is less than 600 MPa.

To investigate the statistical laws of acoustic emission energy (AEE) avalanche dynamics of sandstone under varying fracture lengths and dip angles, as well as to determine the relationship between acoustic emission (AE) parameters and damage variables, we studied the mechanical properties and AE characteristics of sandstone with a single fracture subjected to uniaxial compression with the aid of the Shimadzu AG-IS test system and the PCI-2 AE system. The AEE characteristics of fractured sandstone under load were analyzed based on the statistical method of avalanche dynamics, with emphasis on AEE distribution, aftershock sequence, and waiting time distribution. The Weibull distribution function that incorporates a correction coefficient β was employed to optimize the Weibull parameters based on the strain equivalent hypothesis theory, which led to the establishment of a statistical damage constitutive model for fractured rock.
