Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional bowel disorder defined by recurrent abdominal pain, coupled with irregular bowel habits and alterations in the frequency as well as the consistency of stool. At present, IBS is considered as a disease of gut-brain interaction, and an increasing number of studies are focusing on the brain-gut axis. Emerging evidence has shown that abnormal microRNA (miRNA) expression play an important role in initiation, progression and metastasis in several tumors, including colorectal cancer. Here, we attempted to explore the expression and function of miR-141-3p in colorectal cancer. MiR-141-3p expression was measured in tissue samples, colorectal cancer cell lines and normal human colon epithelium cell line FHC by real-time PCR.
