Neuroinflammation is involved in the development of depression and may induce depression-like behaviors by affecting metabolism through interactions with circadian rhythms. As the hub of metabolism, mitochondria are regulated by various types of metabolism and release signals that regulate cellular functions. In this study, we performed transcriptomic analysis of the hippocampus of IL-33-overexpressing mice to provide new ideas to explore the pathogenesis of inflammation-mediated depression at the transcriptional level.

Direct recycling of cathode materials has attracted phenomenal attention due to its economic and eco-friendly advantages. However, existing direct recycling technologies are difficult to apply to highly degraded layered materials as the accumulation of thick rock-salt phases on their surfaces not only blocks lithiation channels but also is thermodynamically difficult to transform into layered phases. Here, a surface engineering-assisted direct upcycling strategy that reactivates the lithium diffusion channels at the highly degraded cathode surfaces using acid etching explored.

Peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) is a common metastatic cancer with limited treatment options. Herein, we present a novel strategy for the combined treatment of PC involving plasma-activated saline (PAS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal perfusion. PAS revealed a strong cytotoxic effect because of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in two-dimensional cultures and three-dimensional tumor spheroids of PC-related cell lines.

Objectives: The aims of this study were to investigate whether CSF sTREM2 may be a potential marker of disease monitoring for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Methods: We investigated whether CSF sTREM2 levels are altered in ALS patients and are correlated with upper motor neuron (UMN) burden and disease progression.

Results: CSF sTREM2 was greater in the ALS patients than in the controls ( = 0.

Article Synopsis
  • This study fills the gap left by previous bibliometric analysis on non-specific low back pain (NSLBP) since 2020 by examining trends in research over the past decade.
  • It utilized databases and tools like CiteSpace and VOSviewer to map out publication statistics, hotspots, and major contributors in the field, finding that annual publications have steadily increased.
  • Key findings highlight that original research articles dominate the literature, with significant contributions from the USA and notable researchers like Chris G. Maher and the most cited article appearing in LANCET.

Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate the effect and mechanism of the Qushi Huatan (QSHT) decoction against coronary heart disease (CHD) through network pharmacology and experimental verification.

Methods: In the present study, the active ingredients of the QSHT decoction were identified by ultra performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC/MS), then the potential ingredients and coronary heart disease targets were predicted using the SwissTarget Prediction database and the database of Genecards and OMIM database, respectively. A herb-compound-target network was constructed using Cytoscape.

The burgeoning accumulation of spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), a byproduct from the widespread adoption of portable electronics and electric vehicles, necessitates efficient recycling strategies. Direct recycling represents a promising strategy to maximize the value of LIB waste and minimize harmful environmental outcomes. However, current efforts to large-scale direct recycling face challenges stemming from heterophase residues (e.

Malignant melanoma is the most lethal form of skin cancer. As a promising anti-cancer agent, plasma-activated water (PAW) rich in reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) has shown significant potential for melanoma treatment. However, rapid decay of RONS and inefficient delivery of PAW in conventional injection methods limit its practical applications.

Article Synopsis
  • Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a prevalent liver cancer, and small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) containing RNA show potential as noninvasive biomarkers for its diagnosis.
  • Researchers aimed to identify a panel of microRNAs (miRNAs) from blood to use as a diagnostic tool for HCC, utilizing high-throughput sequencing and quantitative validation methods.
  • The study identified ten specific miRNAs that differed between HCC and non-HCC plasma, with two miRNAs showing significant downregulation; a diagnostic model based on these miRNAs demonstrated high sensitivity (90.1%) and specificity (87.8%).

Article Synopsis
  • Migrasomes are specialized organelles formed by migrating neutrophils and play a crucial role in blood clotting (haemostasis).
  • They are abundant in both mouse and human blood and enhance coagulation by binding coagulation factors and adhesion molecules, especially at injury sites.
  • Reducing neutrophils or migrasomes impairs blood clot formation, but injecting purified migrasomes can restore it, suggesting their importance in coagulation disorders and potential for new treatments.

The extracellular matrix (ECM) shapes the stem cell fate during differentiation by exerting relevant biophysical cues. However, the mechanism of stem cell fate decisions in response to ECM-backed complex biophysical cues has not been fully understood due to the lack of versatile ECMs. Here, we designed two versatile ECMs using colloidal self-assembly technology to probe the mechanisms of their effects on mechanotransduction and stem cell fate regulation.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: In recent years, in addition to hypertension, hyperglycemia, and hyperlipidemia, the prevalence of hyperuricemia (HUA) has increased considerably. Being the fourth major health risk factor, HUA can affect the kidneys and cardiovascular system. Chrysanthemi Indici Flos is a flavonoid-containing traditional Chinese patent medicine that exhibits a uric acid (UA)-lowering effect.

An intermolecular controllable Pd-catalyzed spirocyclization of isocyano cycloalkenes has been developed, offering efficient and selective approaches toward spirocyclic hydropyrrole scaffolds. 2-Azaspiro-1,7-dienes could be obtained through a "chain-walking" process with aryl/vinyl iodides as electrophiles, while the normal Heck product 2-azaspiro-1,6-dienes were selectively generated when aryl triflates were used as the coupling partner of isocyanides. Mechanistic studies suggested that the counteranion of the Pd(II) intermediate played a crucial role in the regioselectivity control.

Vitamin D (VD) is a steroid hormone that is widely known to play an important role in maintaining mineral homeostasis, and regulating various physiological functions. Our previous results demonstrated that the interruption of VD metabolism caused hyperglycemia in zebrafish. In the present study we further explored the mechanism that VD regulates glucose metabolism by maintaining intestinal homeostasis in zebrafish.
