The synthesis of high-ordered mechanically interlocked supramolecular structures is an extremely challenging topic. Only two linear [4]catenanes have been reported so far and there is no defined strategy to obtain cyclic [4]catenane. Herein, two unprecedented cyclic [4]catenanes, 1 and 2, were prepared in high yields.

Background: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder in school-aged children. The lack of objective biomarkers for ADHD often results in missed diagnoses or misdiagnoses, which lead to inappropriate or delayed interventions. Eye-tracking technology provides an objective method to assess children's neuropsychological behavior.

A facile, green, one-pot multicomponent synthesis strategy was employed to fabricate novel thiazole scaffolds incorporating phthalazine, pyridazine, and pyrido-pyridazine derivatives (-). This synthetic route entailed the reaction of an α-halo carbonyl compound () with thiosemicarbazide () and various anhydrides (-), utilizing NiFeO nanoparticles as a reusable catalyst in an ethanol:water (1:1) solvent system. The cytotoxicity of the synthesized compounds was meticulously assessed against three cancer cell lines, A375, HeLa, and MCF-7, employing IC values (μM) as the benchmark, and compared to the reference drug erlotinib.

Nanopore is commonly used for high-resolution, label-free sensing, and analysis of single molecules. However, controlling the speed and trajectory of molecular translocation in nanopores remains challenging, hampering sensing accuracy. Here, the study proposes a nanopore-in-a-tube (NIAT) device that enables decoupling of the current signal detection from molecular translocation and provides precise angular inertia-kinetic translocation of single molecules through a nanopore, thus ensuring stable signal readout with high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

Background: Aberrant differentiation of Th17 cells has been identified as a critical factor in the development of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). BLIMP1 plays a key role in regulating plasma cell differentiation, T helper cell differentiation and Treg cell differentiation. Treatment with exosome injection or bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) transplantation reduce joint damage in RA.

A series of 1,2,4-triazolo-quinazolinones and 1,2-benzisothiazolone derivatives (S1-S12) were successfully synthesized as environmentally friendly alternatives to copper-based antifouling paints using -alkylation, cyclocondensation, and one-pot three-component and amide coupling reactions. The monoclinic structure of single-crystal 1,2,4-triazolo-quinazolin-acetic acid (S8) was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. All the synthesized molecules were studied for their in silico molecular docking interactions with three target proteins, namely, RbmA, ToxR, and Bap.

Optofluidic techniques have evolved as a prospering strategy for microparticle manipulation via fluid. Unfortunately, there is still a lack of manipulation with simple preparation, easy operation, and multifunctional integration. In this Letter, we present an optofluidic device based on a graphite oxide (GO)-coated dual-fiber structure for multifunctional particle manipulation.

Electrokinetic force has been the major choice for driving the translocation of molecules through a nanopore. However, the use of this approach is limited by an uncontrollable translocation speed, resulting in non-uniform conductance signals with low conformational sensitivity, which hinders the accurate discrimination of the molecules. Here, we show the use of inertial-kinetic translocation induced by spinning an in-tube micro-pyramidal silicon nanopore fabricated using photovoltaic electrochemical etch-stop technique for biomolecular sensing.

Liquid crystal (LC) gratings have played important roles in light field control due to the advantages of being lightweight, low cost, having no moving parts, and low power consumption. However, the chromatic aberration limits the bandwidth of the LC device and affects the efficiency of the grating. To solve the chromatic aberration issue, a broadband wavelength designable achromatic grating is proposed.

Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSCs) exhibit potent self-renewal and multilineage differentiation characteristics. They have garnered substantial attention within the domain of regenerative medicine owing to their therapeutic potential, such as in tissue repair, regeneration, immunomodulation, anti-inflammation, angiogenesis, wound healing, neuroprotection, and neuroregeneration. The process of fate determination is initiated by multiple signaling molecules.

The DELAY OF GERMINATION1-LIKE (DOGL) genes play an essential role in diverse biological processes in plants. However, their exact involvement in the response to cadmium (Cd) stress via the ABA pathway remains unclear. Here, we focused on NtDOGL4, a tobacco DOGL gene whose expression is highly induced upon exposure to Cd.

PD-1 is a co-inhibitory receptor expressed by CD8 T cells which limits their cytotoxicity. PD-L1 expression on cancer cells contributes to immune evasion by cancers, thus, understanding the mechanisms that regulate PD-L1 protein levels in cancers is important. Here we identify tumor-cell-expressed otubain-2 (OTUB2) as a negative regulator of antitumor immunity, acting through the PD-1/PD-L1 axis in various human cancers.

The Chinese government is implementing policies, such as the "Guidance on comprehensive utilization of bulk solid waste for the 14th Five-Year Plan period", to stimulate phosphogypsum (PG) reduction and recycling. Thus, the comprehensive evaluation of PG recycling technologies for sustainable development is crucial. This study proposes a novel multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) method that considers the criteria of resources, environment, economy, and society and risk attitudes of decision-makers and integrates game theory (GT) and utility theory for criteria weighting and ranking to assess industrial-scale PG recycling technologies in China.

High-altitude hypoxic environments have critical implications on cardiovascular system function as well as blood pressure regulation. Such environments place patients with hypertension at risk by activating the sympathetic nervous system, which leads to an increase in blood pressure. In addition, the high-altitude hypoxic environment alters the metabolism and antihypertensive effects of antihypertensive drugs, which changes the activity and expression of drug-metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters.

Sorafenib is the first-line therapeutic agent for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but the drug resistance has become a major impediment. Previously we found that the abnormal iron metabolism in HCC led to iron deficiency, whether it induces sorafenib resistance during the treatment of HCC is not yet disclosed. In this study, we observed the effects of iron deficiency on sorafenib resistance and explored the underlying mechanisms.

The abnormal iron metabolism in liver cancer leads to iron deficiency in tumor tissues. We previously found that iron deficiency promoted liver cancer metastasis, but the mechanisms were not fully understood. In the present study, we identified that the angiogenesis-associated glutamyl aminopeptidase (ENPEP) was consistently decreased in iron-deficient liver tissues, iron-deficient liver tumors, and iron-deprived liver cancer cells.
