The goal of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to evaluate the perioperative and oncologic results of natural orifice specimen extraction (NOSE) compared to conventional transabdominal specimen extraction (TASE) in robotic-assisted surgery for colorectal cancer. A comprehensive electronic search will be performed on PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library to find research articles published from the beginning of the databases to July 2024 that focus on patients who have undergone robotic-assisted surgery for colorectal cancer. Specifically, this review will compare NOSE with conventional TASE.

As a logographic writing system, Chinese reading involves the processing of visuospatial orthographic (ORT) properties. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a serious threat to human health worldwide, and its incidence is increasing annually. A growing amount of information is emerging about the role of micoRNAs (miRNAs) in the regulation of renal fibrosis, which has aroused interest in the development of drugs that block pathogenic miRNAs or restore protective miRNAs levels. Choline deficiency causes disorders including hepatic abnormalities and is associated with an increased risk of multiple types of cancer. Here, by choline-free diet-associated RNA-Seq analyses, we found that the tumor suppressor p53 drives the Kennedy pathway via PCYT1B to control the growth of lipid droplets (LDs) and their fueling role in tumorigenesis. Mechanistically, through upregulation of PCYT1B, p53 channeled depleted choline stores to phosphatidylcholine (PC) biosynthesis during choline starvation, thus preventing LD coalescence.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of total parathyroidectomy (tPTx) on malnutrition and inflammation in patients on maintenance dialysis (MHD) having secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT).

Methods: Twenty-five patients on MHD having SHPT who were being treated with tPTx were selected, and changes in their general condition (dry body mass), parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcium levels, nutrition state (hemoglobin, hematocrit, serum albumin, and total iron binding capacity), and inflammatory status [serum C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), and the malnutrition-inflammation score (MIS)] were observed at 12, 24, and 36 months postoperatively.
