Aims: To better understand the role of sodium channel beta subunit (SCNN1B) in the initiation and progression of colorectal cancer (CRC) and to identify potential biomarkers for the early detection and prognosis of CRC.
Methods: A total of 74 pairs of CRC tissues and their adjacent normal tissues were collected between October 2016 and November 2017. The methylation levels of the SCNN1B promoter region in CRC tissues and their adjacent normal tissues were investigated by pyrosequencing.
Objective: To investigate the feasibility and accuracy of predicting locoregional recurrence (LR) in elderly patients with esophageal squamous cell cancer (ESCC) who underwent radical radiotherapy using a pairwise machine learning algorithm.
Methods: The 130 datasets enrolled were randomly divided into a training set and a testing set in a 7:3 ratio. Clinical factors were included and radiomics features were extracted from pretreatment CT scans using pyradiomics-based software, and a pairwise naive Bayes (NB) model was developed.
Background: The role of beta-blockers in acute myocardial infarction patients without heart failure and with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF ≥ 50%) is unknown. Our study aimed to retrospectively analyze the associations of beta-blockers on such patients.
Methods: This is a multicenter, retrospective study.
Objective: To explore whether the distance of rectal neuroendocrine neoplasms from the anal margin has an impact on the prognosis of patients and evaluate lymphatic metastases risk score for colorectal neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs).
Methods: Clinical pathological and follow-up data of 71 patients identified as colorectal neuroendocrine neoplasms by pathology from July 2011 to July 2019 were carefully collected.
Results: Among 71 patients with colorectal NENs, most of the tumors were rectal NENs (62 cases).
Guajadial, one of natural dialdehyde meroterpenoids, demonstrated significant antineoplasmic activity. The present research was to investigate the inhibitory effects of guajadial by using two NSCLC cells (A549 and H1650) proliferation and migration. Western blotting was employed to explore the underlying mechanisms of VEGF receptor (VEGFR)2-mediated.

A sensitive ultrafast liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole mass spectrometric (UFLC-MS/MS) method for the quantification of anhydrosafflor yellow B (AHSYB), a major active water-soluble pigment from Carthamus tinctorius, in rat plasma has been developed and validated. Sample preparation was achieved by protein precipitation of plasma with four volumes of methanol. Rutin was used as the internal standard (IS).

The HIV-positive status of the MSM subjects in this study was confirmed using ELISA and Western blotting. The MSM subjects were classified into non-treatment group (n = 106) and treatment group (n = 313).

However, the value of melatonin in the treatment of cancer remains disputable. Hence, we performed a systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of melatonin in solid tumor cancer patients and observed its effect on tumor remission, 1-year survival, and side effects due to radiochemotherapy.

Technetium-99m-hexakis-2-methoxyisobutylisonitrile ((99m)Tc-MIBI) has been shown to be a substrate for some MDR-related proteins. The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of (99m)Tc-MIBI scintigraphy for functional imaging of MDR-related protein phenotypes.
