Immune infiltration is reported to be highly associated with tumor progress. Since butyrophilin subfamily 3 member A2 (BTN3A2) serves as a crucial mediator in immune activation, we aimed to investigate the correlation of BTN3A2 in immune infiltration and tumor prognosis via extensive-cancer analysis. The levels of BTN3A2 expression in extensive cancers were analyzed with Oncomine and TIMER databases.

Objective: Improvement of quality-of-life (QoL) has been termed as a primary objective in initiating therapy in both Parkinson's disease (PD) and multiple system atrophy Parkinsonian subtype (MSA-P). We aimed to compare the determinants of life quality in drug naïve PD and MSA-P patients.

Methods: Eighty-six drug-naïve PD patients and thirty-five drug-naïve MSA-P patients were included to explore the determinants of QoL.

Plaque erosion (PE) is a significant substrate of acute coronary thrombosis. An improved ability to distinguish plaque phenotype in vivo among patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is of considerable interest because of the potential to formulate tailored treatment. This study assessed the plaque features and screened the circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) characteristically expressed in patients with PE compared with those with plaque rupture (PR).

This study evaluates the chemical structure of a heteropolysaccharide (PSF-W-1) from the endophytic fungus Trichoderma atroviride and its effects on the production of tanshinones in Salvia miltiorrhiza hairy roots. The total carbohydrate content of isolated PSF-W-1 was determined to be 97.72%.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with inferior vena cava (IVC) tumor thrombus rarely occurs, its prognosis is extremely poor. A 49-year-old locally advanced HCC male with tumor thrombus extension into the IVC and the right atrium was successfully treated with stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). A radiation dose of 40 Gy/5 fractions was delivered to the thrombus in 5 days.

Background: To infer transmission direction of a HIV transmission chain is helpful not only in legal jurisdiction but also in precise intervention to prevent HIV spread. Recently, the direction of transmission is inferred by whether paraphyletic-monophyletic (PM) or a combination of paraphyletic and polyphyletic (PP) topologies is observed or not between the sequences of source and recipient in the phylogenetic tree. However, paraphyly between them often declines over time and may disappear between spouses due to bidirectional transmission after primary infection.

Background: The proportion of older HIV-1 infected people in China has increased rapidly in recent years. Elucidation of the transmission characteristics of this high-risk population subgroup is helpful for the development of tailored interventions.

Methods: A phylogenetic analysis was performed that uses available HIV-1 pol sequences amplified with nested RT-PCR from plasma samples of all newly diagnosed participants spanning from October 2017 to September 2018 in Fuyang, Anhui Province.

Previous studies have found that hydrogen sulfide (HS) has multiple functions such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidative in addition to biological effects among the various organs. Exaggerated proliferation and resistance to apoptosis of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) is a key component of vascular remodeling. We hypothesized that endogenous bioactive molecular known to suppress endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress signaling, like HS, will inhibit the disruption of the ER-mitochondrial unit and prevent/reverse pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a highly heterogeneous clinical entity. Patients with young-onset PD (YOPD) show some characteristic manifestations to late-onset PD (LOPD). The current study aimed to investigate the cerebral dopaminergic and metabolic characteristics in YOPD with positron emission tomography (PET) imaging.

Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of Qigong in reducing the self-rating depression scale (SDS) and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) scores of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Methods: We searched CNKI, Wan fang, Chongqing VIP, China Biology Medicine disc, PubMed, Cochrane Library, and EMBASE for studies published as of Dec 31, 2018. All randomized controlled trials of Qigong in COPD patients, which met the inclusion criteria were included.

This work provides a comprehensive investigation of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) inducement in weldment and their apparent effect on the microstructure, %elongation and ultimate fracture behavior of Al-Mg-Si alloy referring modified tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding joints. Serious experimental work is carried out at 1 wt%, 1.5 wt%, and 2 wt% of MWCNTs to provide a gradually increasing heterogeneous nucleation.

Background: Hereditary spastic paraplegias (HSP) are of great clinical and genetic heterogeneity. According to the clinical features, HSP can be divided into pure or complicated subtypes which combined with other neurological symptoms including cerebellar ataxia. Up to date, 78 loci or genes have been implicated in HSP.

Aims: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and significance of plaque with a multilayered (ML) pattern in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) versus stable angina pectoris (SAP) using OCT.

Methods And Results: Two hundred and four patients (144 ACS and 60 SAP) with OCT imaging of the culprit lesions before intervention were studied. ML plaques were identified by OCT as plaque with multiple layers of distinct optical signals.

STING gain-of-function mutations cause lung disease and T cell cytopenia through unknown mechanisms. Here, we found that these mutants induce chronic activation of ER stress and unfolded protein response (UPR), leading to T cell death by apoptosis in the mouse and in human T cells. Mechanistically, STING-N154S disrupts calcium homeostasis in T cells, thus intrinsically primes T cells to become hyperresponsive to T cell receptor signaling-induced ER stress and the UPR, leading to cell death.

Maxillectomy following radiation therapy has the strongest local control over maxillary sinus cancer. However, in the advanced stage, complete resection is difficult with adequate margin and has the risk of functional disabilities after surgeries. The objective of the study was to determine the optimal treatment strategy for patients with maxillary sinus cancer invades the upper jaw.

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a well-established therapy for patients with advanced Parkinson's disease (PD), dystonia, and other movement disorders. In contrast to the strong positive effects that have been documented for motor symptoms, the effects of DBS on nonmotor symptoms have not been fully elucidated. Some reports suggest that stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus may improve lower urinary tract symptoms in patients with PD; however, reports of the effects of globus pallidus internus (GPi) DBS on urinary symptoms are limited.

Striatal dopamine transporter (DAT) deficiency and abnormal expression of Parkinson's disease (PD)-related pattern (PDRP) have been observed in patients with idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder (IRBD). This study aimed to investigate the correlations between these two measures with comparison to PD using a dual tracer imaging design. Age-matched 37 IRBD patients, 86 PD patients, and 15 control subjects underwent concurrent PET scans with C-CFT to quantify dopaminergic dysfunction and F-FDG to quantify PDRP expression.

Abinukitrine A (1), a novel triterpenoid, was isolated from Abies nukiangensis. Comprehensive spectroscopic analysis revealed that 1 is the first example of 17,18-cyclolanostane bearing a unique 6/6/6/5/3 ring system. Its absolute configuration was unequivocally assigned by Cu-Kα X-ray single-crystallography.
