Purpose: Laminoplasty (LP) combined with C3 laminectomy (LN) can effectively achieve spinal cord decompression while maintaining the integrity of the posterior ligament-muscle complex, thereby minimizing cervical muscle damage. However, its necessity and safety remain controversial. This study aimed to compare the safety and efficacy of LP and LP combined with C3 LN in the treatment of patients with multilevel degenerative cervical spondylotic myelopathy (DCM).

Objective: Neck pain is a common musculoskeletal disorder, and it affects the quality of life of patients. As an effective and reliable multidimensional measurement tool for neck pain, the Neck Bournemouth Questionnaire (NBQ) has been cross-culturally adapted into multiple languages for clinical practice. The aim of this study was to evaluate the translation procedures and measurement properties of cross-cultural adaptations of the NBQ.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to create a nomogram model to predict new vertebral fractures after surgery for patients with osteoporotic compression fractures, helping to improve surgical planning and reduce the risk of further fractures.
  • - Researchers analyzed data from 420 patients, using a combination of LASSO regression and multivariate logistic regression to identify key factors influencing refractures, including bone cement leakage and fractures in the endplate.
  • - The prediction model demonstrated strong accuracy and good fit through ROC curve analysis and calibration curves, suggesting its potential as a useful tool in clinical practice for better medical decision-making.

Background: Postmenopausal women face a heightened risk of developing new vertebral compression fractures (NVCFs) following percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs). This study aimed to develop and validate a visual nomogram model capable of accurately predicting NVCF occurrence post-PKP to optimize treatment strategies and minimize occurrence.

Methods: This retrospective study included postmenopausal women diagnosed with OVCF who underwent PKP at the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine between January 2016 and January 2021.

Study Design: Multicenter retrospective observational study.

Objective: This study aimed to distinguish tuberculous spondylitis (TS) from pyogenic spondylitis (PS) using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Further, a novel diagnostic model for differential diagnosis was developed.

Objective: New vertebral compression fracture (NVCF) occurring after bone cement injection in middle-aged and elderly patients with vertebral compression fracture is very common. Preoperative baseline characteristics and surgical treatment parameters have been widely studied as a risk factor, but the importance of the patients' laboratory indicators has not been thoroughly explored. We aimed to explore the relationship between laboratory indicators and NVCF, and attempt to construct a clinical prediction model of NVCF together with other risk factors.
