Background: Existing literature on the impact of lipid accumulation product (LAP) and visceral adiposity index (VAI) on severe headache or migraine is limited. This study aims to elucidate the association between LAP and VAI and the prevalence of migraine.

Methods: Data for this study were sourced from the 1999-2004 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).

Article Synopsis
  • The study identifies a new psychrotolerant bacterium, Pseudomonas peli NR-5, capable of efficient nitrogen removal through heterotrophic nitrification and aerobic denitrification (HN-AD) at low temperatures.
  • Under optimal conditions (11.5 °C, pH 7.0), P. peli NR-5 achieved over 99% nitrogen removal from various nitrogen sources without nitrite buildup.
  • The research also outlines the genetic basis for the HN-AD process in this bacterium, offering insights into its potential for wastewater treatment in cold environments.

Rough manual interpretation distance cannot keep up with the intelligent detection and interpretation of sewer pipe defects. We present an automatic location method for the accurate longitudinal distance of the structural defects in sewer pipes via a pinhole-based defect monocular ranging model via image processing of pipe diameters. Then the model verification experiment is undertaken through a comparison with the actual data of the pipe size and the camera parameters.

Objective: Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare myeloid-origin neoplasm characterized by the expansion and dissemination of CD1 a+/CD207+ dendritic cells (LCH cells), but the rarity of its occurrence has long impeded progress in understanding its pathology. We focus on the potentially important role that regulatory T cells (T-reg) play in the oral and maxillofacial LCH tumor microenvironment (TME).

Study Design: Nine cases of oral and maxillofacial LCH, diagnosed from 2009 to 2019, were collected retrospectively from the affiliated hospitals of Southern Medical University.

Objective: To find an efficient and fast method for microbial immobilization, we compared simultaneity culture method and adsorption method on morphology and intrastructure of combined mycelial pellets, as well as their o-chlorophenol biodegradation efficiency.

Methods: The o-chlorophenol degrading photosynthetic bacterium PSB-1D was immobilized onto mycelial pellets formed by Phanerochaete chrysosporium DH-1 to form combined mycelial pellets. The morphology and intrastructure of pellets formed by two immobilization methods were observed by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope.

In this report, we present a novel one-step solid-phase reaction method for the synthesis of L10-CoPt@C core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) using organic metal precursors without surfactants. The obtained CoPt@C NPs have a good face-centered tetragonal single crystal structure and regular shape. The mean size of CoPt is 14 nm with a uniform carbon shell.
