High-quality traveling waves in stators are critical for traveling-wave ultrasonic motors (TUSMs) to achieve good stability and efficiency. However, the modal splitting and shape distortion that is induced by the anisotropic elasticity induce severe traveling wave distortion. In this study, mode optimization based on kirigami is proposed to suppress modal splitting and shape distortion.

Thermomyces dupontii harbors two paralogs ( and ) in the gene cluster for the biosynthesis of prenylated indole alkaloids (PIAs) and correponding iron chelators with assigned as one protein containing a CYP like domain fused with a FAD-binding domain-containing oxidoreductase. Genetic manipulation and metabolic profile analysis indicated both and were involved in transforming simple PIAs to their corresponding iron chelators. Moreover, is responsible for bolstering simple PIAs to complex PIAs, and for reinforcing conjugating unsaturated systems in complex PIAs.

To date, there are no real physiological mechanisms for iron excretion in eukaryote, and no physiological "actuator" that can control all the three fundamental biologic processes of absorption, storage, and excretion. Here, we observed that the accumulation of anthraquinones by Thermomyces dupontii under cold stress can achieve this process. Through mutation analysis, we found that mutant ΔAn deficiency in anthraquinones accumulated ferrous and total free iron due to adopting a rare lifestyle with no endocytosis but accumulation of membrane-derived vesicles.

This study proposes a high-resolution rotation-measuring system for miniaturized MEMS ultrasonic motors using tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors for the first time. Initially, the architecture and principle of the rotation-measuring system are described in detail. Then, the finite element simulation is implemented to determine the miniaturized permanent magnet's residual magnetization, dimensions, and TMR sensor position.

Background: Xanthenes and multi-aryl carbon core containing compounds represent different types of complex and condensed architectures that have impressive wide range of pharmacological, industrial and synthetic applications. Moreover, indoles as building blocks were only found in naturally occurring metabolites with di-aryl carbon cores and in chemically synthesized tri-aryl carbon core containing compounds. Up to date, rare xanthenes with indole bearing multicaryl carbon core have been reported in natural or synthetic products.

This paper is based on the analysis of the three-dimensional motion of the PZT (lead zirconate titanate) thin-film traveling wave micro-motor and presents an optimization study of the effect of the radial component on the output torque and maximum speed. Based on theoretical analysis, it is proposed that the inconsistency of the equivalent constraint stiffness of the inner and outer rings is the main factor in the radial component of the traveling wave drive. Considering the large computational and time costs of 3D (three-dimensional) transient simulation, the residual stress-relieved deformation state in a steady state is used to equivalently characterize the inner and outer ring constraint stiffness of the micro-motor, and then the outer ring support stiffness is adjusted to achieve the consistency of the inner and outer ring constraint stiffness and the optimization of the radial component reduction, as well as to improve the flatness of the micro-motor interface under residual stress and optimize the contact state between the stator and rotor.

The emergence of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has significantly prolonged the survival time of cancer patients. However, it may also lead to various immune-related adverse events (irAEs), including Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), a rare type of irAE. Most GBS patients can recover spontaneously due to the self-limited nature of the disease, but severe cases can result in respiratory failure or even death.

The discovery of biological activities of natural products plays a vital part in drug development. The mechanism by which organisms respond to temperature changes via biosynthesis of natural products remained largely cryptic. A thermophilic fungus under cold stress turned black and accumulated a polyketide metabolite 1 and lipid mass.

Tryptophan and its derived metabolites have been assumed to play important roles in the development and survival of organisms. However, the links of tryptophan and its derived metabolites to temperature change remained largely cryptic. Here we presented that a class of prenyl indole alkaloids biosynthesized from tryptophan dramatically accumulated in thermophilic fungus under cold stress, in which lipid droplets were also highly accumulated and whose conidiophores were highly build-up.

Article Synopsis
  • A new cytotoxic alkaloid called streptothiazolidine B was discovered, alongside three other known compounds, from a specific source.
  • The structure of streptothiazolidine B was determined using advanced techniques like 1D and 2D NMR, HRESIMS, NOESY experiments, and ECD analysis, confirming it as an amide alkaloid with a unique side chain.
  • Streptothiazolidine B showed strong cytotoxic effects on human tumor cell lines Li-7 and A2780, with IC values of 7.8 and 9.1 μM, while another compound exhibited cytotoxicity against four different tumor cell lines with IC values ranging from

Intrauterine adhesions (IUAs) have caused serious harm to women's reproductive health. Although emerging evidence has linked intrauterine microbiome to gynecological diseases, the association of intrauterine microbiome with IUA, remains unknown. We performed metagenome-wide association, metabolomics, and transcriptomics studies on IUA and non-IUA uteri of adult rats to identify IUA-associated microbial species, which affected uterine metabolites and endometrial transcriptions.

Many proposals for exploring topological quantum computation are based on superconducting quantum devices constructed on materials with strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC). For these devices, full control of both the magnitude and the spatial distribution of the supercurrent is highly demanded, but has been elusive up to now. We constructed a proximity-type Josephson junction on nanoplates of BiOSe, a new emerging semiconductor with strong SOC.

Feeding the strain with toluquinol or hydroquinones resulted in production of novel "unnatural" natural products including four arthrocolins embedded with indolyltriphenyl quaternary carbons. Arthrocolins - potently inhibited various human cancer cell lines including paclitaxel-resistant cell line A549/Taxol and methicillin-resistant and immensely restored the sensitivity of intractable fluconazole-resistant human pathogen to fluconazole.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of global cancer-associated mortality, therefore it is important to reveal the molecular mechanisms of lung cancer progression and to develop novel therapeutic targets. The results of the present study identified that manganese-12 acetate (Mn12Ac) was able to significantly inhibit the migration and invasion of A549 cells. Western blotting demonstrated that treatment with Mn12Ac was able to upregulate E-cadherin, and downregulate N-cadherin and vimentin.

The low temperature coefficient and high linearity of the input-output characteristics are both required for high-performance microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) capacitive accelerometers. In this work, a structural designing of a bulk MEMS capacitive accelerometer is developed for both low temperature coefficient and high linearity. Firstly, the contrary effect of the wide-narrow gaps ratio (WNGR) on the temperature coefficient of the scale factor (TCSF) and linearity error is discussed.

The glass polarization effects were introduced in this paper to study the main cause of turn-on drift phenomenon of closed-loop micro-accelerometers. The glass substrate underneath the sensitive silicon structure underwent a polarizing process when the DC bias voltage was applied. The slow polarizing process induced an additional electrostatic field to continually drag the movable mass block from one position to another so that the sensing capacitance was changed, which led to an output drift of micro-accelerometers.
