Characterizing the dynamic mechanical properties of spinal cord tissue is deemed important for developing a comprehensive knowledge of the mechanisms underlying spinal cord injury. However, complex viscoelastic properties are vastly underexplored due to the spinal cord shows heterogeneous properties. To investigate regional differences in the biomechanical properties of spinal cord, we provide a mechanical characterization method (i.

We applied a total of 15 different design of experiments (DOEs) on DC pulsed parameters (reverse voltage, pulse frequency, and duty cycle) with Box-Behnken experimental method and response surface method (RSM) to establish a mathematical model by experimental data for interpreting the relationship between independent and response variables. For the characterization of AlN films on the crystal quality, microstructure, thickness, and surface roughness, X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) were utilized.

In contrast to conventional biomaterials or synthetic materials, biomimetic scaffolds based on natural biomaterial can offer cells a broad spectrum of biochemical and biophysical cues that mimic the in vivo extracellular matrix (ECM). Additionally, such materials have mechanical adaptability, microstructure interconnectivity, and inherent bioactivity, making them ideal for the design of living implants for specific applications in TE and regenerative medicine.

Methods: This is a single-center retrospective study. Eighty-seven PPECD-treated patients meeting the inclusion criteria were included between May 2017 and May 2019.
A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-motile, white-pigmented, short rod-shaped, and alginate-degrading bacterium, designated B1Z28, was isolated from the gut of the abalone Haliotis rubra obtained at Weihai, China. Strain B1Z28 was found to grow at 4-35 °C, pH 6.5-9.

To evaluate the clinical efficacy, practicability, and safety of an ultrasonic osteotome for percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy (PTED) in patients with calcified lumbar disc herniation (CLDH). A total of 25 CLDH patients who underwent PTED at our department between December 2017 and August 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. Post-operative lumbar spine CT was used to evaluate residual calcification.

In this study, the pyrolytic behaviors and the thermal-oxidation decomposition characteristics of organic carbon (OC), pyrolytically generated elemental carbon (PEC) and black carbon (BC) particles have been studied in inert and air atmosphere respectively, in order to develop a new PEC correction method for the determination of BC by using thermal oxidation method. Our results indicated that: 1) a part of OC can be removed by heating it at 400°C in inert atmosphere and another part of OC was charred to form PEC, whereas, the weight of BC particles approximately keeps no change in the same conditions. 2) PEC and BC began to decompose at a similar temperature in air atmosphere.

Methods: Rats were randomly divided into control and intervention groups. In the intervention group, arginine was solved in water (0.
Objective: To investigate the effect of mechanical stretch force on the morphologic and apoptotic changes of fibroblasts derived from the OPLL (ossification of posterior longitudinal ligaments) patients.
Methods: The third passage cells were collected and subjected to 10% elongations cyclic mechanical stretching for 6 h and 24 h with Flexercell 4000(TM) strain unit. Their morphologic changes were observed and the post-stretching apoptotic rates quantified by flow cytometer.
Objective: To investigate the effect of Chinese herbs for nourishing Shen-yin and removing Xiang-fire (NYRF) on estrogen receptor (ER) expression in uterus and ovary of rats contaminated with nonylphenol (NP) or its bisphenol A (BPA) mixture, for exploring the action mechanism of NYRF in antagonizing the estrogen-mimetic activity of environmental endocrine disruptors (EEDs).
Methods: EEDs contaminated female SD rats, 3-week old, were divided into two groups, the treated group fed with NYRF and the control group with corn oil during the same period of contaminating for 15 days. The wet weight (WW) and organ coefficient (OC) of uterus in rats, as well as the ER protein and mRNA expressions in rat's uterus and ovary were detected and compared.
