Background: Currently, serum PSA is the most commonly used screening tool in clinical practice. However, PSA levels in the range of 4-10 ng/ml are considered the 'grey zone' of prostate cancer screening. Patients within this range need to be further evaluated using additional parameters such as PSA ratio, PSA density, and other indices to determine the necessity of prostate biopsy (PBx).

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines how poly(lactic acid) (PLA) nanocomposite films with Hec-g@PS perform in extreme natural environments, focusing on their degradation and ability to adsorb Cu(II).
  • During degradation, PLA/Hec-g@PS films exhibited lower roughness and crack rates compared to standard PLA films, likely due to enhanced interactions within the material that slowed degradation.
  • The PLA/Hec-g@PS films not only extended lifespan by 1.08 times but also showed improved Cu(II) adsorption, making them promising for applications in wastewater treatment and soil remediation.

Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) generates a weak electric field (EF) within the brain, which induces opposite polarization in the soma and distal dendrite of cortical pyramidal neurons. The somatic polarization directly affects the spike timing, and dendritic polarization modulates the synaptically evoked dendritic activities. Ca spike, the most dramatic dendritic activity, is crucial for synaptic integration and top-down signal transmission, thereby indirectly influencing the output spikes of pyramidal cells.

The fused eight-membered carbocycles (EMCs) play vital roles in the medicinal and biological investigations of many natural products and marketed drugs. The traditional synthesis of [6-8-6] benzo-fused derivatives involves multistep reactions and low yields, making the development of a one-step synthesis method a more challenging work. Here, we present a novel strategy for one-step construction of [6-8-6] benzo-fused scaffold from propargyl diazoacetates substituted with benzyl-nitrogen heterocyclic ring via Rh(ll)-catalyzed carbene/alkyne metathesis (CAM) and selective C-H bond insertion.
