Radiotherapy (RT) effectiveness is limited by low DNA damage in tumor cells, surrounding tissue harm, and tumor radioresistance with active DNA repair. Herein, we have engineered a two-dimensional nanomaterial consisting of MXene nanosheets at its core, coated with gold nanorods and a cisplatin shell, and further modified with polyvinyl alcohol, referred to as APMP. The APMP exploits its distinctive electronic properties and photothermal effects to augment radiosensitivity and impede DNA damage repair mechanisms.

Importance: Up to 80% of survivors of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) currently or previously smoked. Thus, tobacco use is a major modifiable risk factor for HNSCC, even in the era of human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated disease. However, how smoking underlies chromosomal and epigenetic changes that are associated with HNSCC outcomes remains unclear.

Herein, the coordination bond connected porphyrin-MOFs/MXenes composites has been prepared to construct an electrochemical sensing system for in situ and real-time monitoring of HO released by cells. The composites were synthesized by introducing 4-mercaptopyridine and utilizing its binding interaction with titanium in Mxenes and iron in MOFs. This composite was then transferred to the surface of ITO to construct an electrochemical sensing system.

Antimony (Sb) has the advantages of high theoretical K storage capacity, low alloying potential, and excellent electrical conductivity, and it is a promising active anode material for potassium-ion batteries (PIBs). In this work, a series of Sb/NC nanocomposites were prepared by the sol-gel method and carbothermic reduction technique, encapsulating Sb particles in a nitrogen (N)-doped three-dimensional porous carbon matrix. The results show that Sb/NC nanocomposites with a unique porous structure and optimal Sb content can be obtained by simply adjusting the amount of organic carbon source during the synthesis process.

In this work, we synthesized hollow multi-walled vanadium oxide nanotubes (VO -NT) using a soft template technique under hydrothermal reaction conditions. By replacing organic templates, which do not contribute to electrochemical potassium storage, with K in a solution environment, we effectively retained the original hollow multi-walled structure of VO -NT while obtaining the K-VO -NT material. We conducted systematic characterizations of the microstructure, morphology, and composition of these materials and evaluated their potassium storage performance.

Background And Objectives: While previous population-based studies have suggested a link between serum vitamin D levels and depression in individuals with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), the exact correlation between serum vitamin D and depression among NAFLD patients remains controversial and disputed. Thus, we conducted this study to evaluate the relationship between serum vitamin D and depression in NAFLD participants diagnosed via transient elastography.

Methods And Study Design: This cross-sectional study was extracted from the latest NHANES 2017-2018 dataset.

Background: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a fibrosing interstitial pneumonia with restrictive ventilation. Recently, the structural and functional defects of small airways have received attention in the early pathogenesis of IPF. This study aimed to elucidate the characteristics of small airway epithelial dysfunction in patients with IPF and explore novel therapeutic interventions to impede IPF progression by targeting the dysfunctional small airways.

Organic anode materials have been recognized as promising candidates for low-cost and sustainable lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), which however suffer from the inferior cycling stability and low conductivity with unsatisfactory LIBs performance. Herein, two conjugated phthalocyanine-based covalent organic frameworks (COFs), namely CoPc-Ph-COF and CoPc-3Ph-COF, are synthesized by the nucleophilic substitution reaction of hexafluorophthalocyanine cobalt (II) (CoPcF) with 1,2,4,5-tetrahydroxybenzene and 9,10-dimethyl-2,3,6,7-tetrahydroxyanthracene, respectively. Powder X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy analysis reveal the crystalline porous structure of both COFs with a pore size of 1.

Importance: Distress is common among patients with cancer, and evidence of disparities associated with distress has been mixed. Head and neck cancer (HNC) is one of the most emotionally distressing cancers and is also a highly disparate disease. However, it is unknown whether there are disparities associated with patient-reported distress in HNC.

Stress and anxiety are significant psychological challenges in modern society, which have led to a rapidly growing market for functional foods, including those reported to relieve stress, as alternatives to psychoactive drugs. Among these, diacyl glyceryl ethers (DAGE) derived from deep-sea shark liver oil have gained attention for their strong antioxidant properties and potential mental health benefits. Building on preliminary evidence suggesting DAGE's efficacy in enhancing stress resilience and modulating biochemical pathways associated with reduced oxidative stress, the present study aimed to examine their effects on stress responses in two specific mouse strains.

Five undescribed diterpenoids, serranins A-E (-), and four novel triterpenoids, serratic acids A-D (-), along with 32 known terpenoids (-) were isolated from the aerial parts of . The planar structures of - and their relative configurations were established on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis. Structurally, compounds - are the first examples of 18,19--ursane -coumaric or ferulic esters, while compounds - further enriched the plant's diterpene profile.

In the era of cloud service popularization, the trustworthiness of service is particularly important. If users cannot prevent the potential trustworthiness problem of the service during long-term use, once the trustworthiness problem occurs, it will cause significant losses. In order to objectively assess the cloud service trustworthiness, and predict its change, this paper establishes a special hierarchical model of cloud service trustworthiness attributes.

An in-depth investigation of the maximum environmental load is crucial for soil security and pollution prevention. This research focused on soil environmental carrying capacity (SECC) for different risk receptors in a Chinese industrial city. By determining risk threshold for various land use types, we integrated mass balance and iterative models to capture dynamic net input fluxes with spatial heterogeneity.

Given the high recurrence rate of kidney stones, surgical lithotripsy and stone removal are not the ultimate treatments for kidney stones. There's an urgent need to explore the genetic mechanisms behind the susceptibility to kidney stones and to identify potential targets for prevention, to reduce the renal damage caused by recurrent stone formation. In this study, we screened 4548 circulating proteins using proteome-wide Mendelian Randomization (MR) to find proteins with a causal relationship to kidney stone risk.

Human activities and natural forces have profoundly influenced vegetation ecosystems in the Tibetan Plateau over the recent decades. However, contributions of these two driving forces to vegetation changes remain controversial, especially in the ecological barriers like the Qilian Mountains (QM) in the northeast where many protecting measures and strategies were applied to enhance ecosystem stability and services. Our study employed a process-based model and a multi-perspective assessment method to determine dominant drivers of vegetation changes in the QM since 2000.

Lactate accumulation and macrophage infiltration are pivotal features of both chronic inflammation and cancer. Lactate, once regarded merely as an aftereffect of glucose metabolism, is now gaining recognition for its burgeoning spectrum of biological roles and immunomodulatory significance. Recent studies have evidenced that macrophages display divergent immunophenotypes in different diseases, which play a pivotal role in disease management by modulating macrophage polarization within the disease microenvironment.
