Improved methods for the synthesis of BH and a series of -heterocycle-coordinated BH complexes (-Het·BH) have been developed with readily obtained KBH as the starting material. Oxidation of KBH could provide BH in over 90% yield. Then, the -Het·BH complexes were prepared from the as-synthesized BH through in situ multistep reactions by reacting with NaH, -heterocycles, and dilute hydrochloric acid.

Chromium (VI) (Cr(VI)) generally coexists with organic dyes in industrial effluents, posing a formidable challenge in water purification. Herein, NH-MIL-125(Ti)/TiO Z-scheme heterojunction with intimate interfacial contact was synthesized for synchronous removal of pollutant in coexisting Cr(VI)/dyes system under simulated solar irradiation. Structural and optical investigations indicated that a well-defined interface was formed by establishing a Ti-N-C bond, facilitating the spatial separation of the photoexcited carriers of the Z-scheme heterojunction.

Effectively narrowing and blue-shifting photoluminescence (PL) of carbon dots (CDs) through enhancing their sp-C hybridization degree by using a microreactor are achieved. The resulting CDs emit ultraviolet (UV) PL centered at 345 nm with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 54 nm, with blue-shift of over 100 nm and FWHM narrowed by nearly half in comparison with that of the CDs prepared by using the traditional solvothermal method.

Tumor suppressor protein Adenomatous polyposis coli protein (APC) is an EB-binding and microtubule (MT) plus end-tracking protein; however, how exactly APC regulates MT dynamics remains elusive. Here, we show that in LLC-PK1 cells, APC and KIF2A, an MT depolymerase, form a complex clustering at the cell edge and destabilize MTs at the MT plus ends. Further biochemical characterization and mutational analysis reveal key residues for the APC-KIF2A interaction.

Achieving high efficiency narrowband near-ultraviolet (NUV) emitters in organic light emitting diode (OLED) is still a formidable challenge. Herein, a proof-of-concept hybridized local and charge transfer (HLCT) molecule, named ICz-BO, is prepared and characterized, in which both multiresonant (MR) skeletons are integrated via conjugation connection. A slightly distorted structure and weak intramolecular charge transfer (CT) interaction between two MR subunits lead to a high-lying reverse intersystem crossing (h-RISC) channel of T→S, also evidenced by both experimental and calculated results.

The aberrant expression of proviral integration site for Moloney murine leukemia virus (PIM) kinases is closely related to various tumors and chemotherapy resistance, making them attractive targets for cancer therapy. However, due to the extremely high homology among the three PIM isoforms (PIM1, PIM2, PIM3) and the limited availability of existing bioactivity data, screening and designing selective PIM inhibitors remain a daunting challenge. To address this issue, this study constructed a multitask regression model that can simultaneously predict the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC values).

A high-capacity and rate capability anode material is highly desired to improve the export performance of aqueous alkaline batteries (AABs). Due to the 3-electrons redox chemistry within a wide negative potential range, bismuth (Bi) based compounds are promising candidates as anode materials in AABs. A hybrid composed of different Bi-based compounds is envisioned to further reinforce the faradaic activity and affinity for electrolyte ions, thereby maximizing the charge storage capacity.

Background: Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounting for approximately 85% of cases. While immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have transformed treatment for advanced NSCLC, the role of bone metastasis in modulating ICI efficacy remains unclear. Bone metastasis, occurring in 30-40% of advanced NSCLC cases, is associated with worse outcomes.

The phase behavior of symmetric diblock copolymers under three-dimensional (3D) soft confinement is investigated using self-consistent field theory. Soft confinement is realized in binary blends composed of AB diblock copolymers and C homopolymers, where the copolymers self-assemble to form a droplet embedded in a homopolymer matrix. The phase behavior of the confined block copolymers is regulated by the degree of confinement and the selectivity of the homopolymers, resulting in a rich variety of novel structures.

In this work, we study the nucleation of quasicrystals from liquid or periodic crystals by developing an efficient order-order phase transition algorithm, namely, the nullspace-preserving saddle search method. In particular, we focus on nucleation and phase transitions of the decagonal quasicrystal (DQC) based on the Lifshitz-Petrich model. We present the nucleation path of DQC from the liquid and demonstrate one- and two-stage transition paths between DQC and periodic crystals.

Sodium-based liquid metal batteries are well suited for stationary energy storage due to their long life, intrinsic safety, and ease of scale-up. However, the irreversible alloying reaction between the positive current collector (PCC) and the cathodes at high temperatures leads to severe capacity degradation of the battery, severely limiting its scale-up application. In this work, a Bi-Sb-Sn alloy cathode based on a synergistic stabilization mechanism was designed for the first time.
