Ceramides play a central role in human health and disease, yet their role as systemic signaling molecules remain poorly understood. In this work, we identify FPR2 as a membrane receptor that specifically binds long-chain ceramides (C14-C20). In brown and beige adipocytes, C16:0 ceramide binding to FPR2 inhibits thermogenesis via G-cyclic AMP signaling pathways, an effect that is reversed in the absence of FPR2.

Developing new biodegradable polyesters with well-defined structures is of interest. We reported an attractive two-component aliphatic polyester-based thermoset, which was prepared via the esterification of biomass-derived l-malic acid oligomers and three-arm poly(ε-caprolactone) (3a-PCL) triols. The chemical network formed via the ester bonding and physical network caused by the crystallization of a 3a-PCL arm chain coexist in the thermoset, and the competition of the two characteristic networks leads to a negative correlation between the degree of covalent cross-linking and the degree of crystallization; thereby, the mechanical state of the thermosets can be easily tuned: from the plastic to elastomer state.

Background: P3a event-related potential (ERP) is considered a potential biomarker for schizophrenia (SZ), can be elicited through both passive two-stimulus and active three-stimulus auditory oddball paradigms. While both types of P3a reflect involuntary attention shifts, the nuanced understanding of what P3a represents in different contexts is important and rarely studied. This study aims to examine correlations between P3a ERPs elicited from different paradigms and associations of each P3a with cognitive function, clinical symptoms, and antipsychotic medication.
