Study Objective: To determine the safety and effectiveness of ultrasound-guided paracervical nerve blocks for the painless treatment of patients with cervical cancer post-implantation.
Design: Single-center randomized controlled trial.
Setting: Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University (July 2023 to October 2023).
Background: This study combined bioinformatics and experimental verification in a mouse model of intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) to explore the protection mechanism exerted by butyrate against IRI.
Methods: GeneCards, Bioinformatics Analysis Tool for Molecular Mechanisms of Traditional Chinese Medicine and GSE190581 were used to explore the relationship between butyrate and IRI and aging. Protein-protein interaction networks involving butyrate and IRI were constructed via the STRING database, with hub gene analysis performed through Cytoscape.
The nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signalling pathway represents a crucial intrinsic protective system against oxidative stress and inflammation and plays a significant role in various neurological disorders. However, the effect of Nrf2 signalling on the regulation of cognitive impairment remains unknown. Dexmedetomidine (DEX) has neuroprotective effects and can ameliorate lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cognitive dysfunction.

It has been considered extremely difficult to break down benzene rings at ambient conditions without external energy input, due to the extraordinary stability of the aromatic structure. Here, we show one such solution that can thoroughly degrade benzene to basically water and carbon dioxide at 25 °C in air using atomically dispersed Fe in N-doped porous carbon, with almost 100% benzene conversion.

However, the mechanism of DSB-triggered cohesin modification-modulated chromatin structure on the recruitment of 53BP1 remains largely elusive. Here, we identified acetyltransferase ESCO2 as a regulator for DSB-induced cohesin-dependent chromatin structure dynamics, which promotes 53BP1 recruitment.

In this study, an organo-mineral complex (OMC) material was prepared using modified palygorskite and chicken manure, the Cd and As adsorption capacities and mechanism of the OMC were explored, and the response of the crop to the OMC was clarified. The results show that the maximum Cd and As adsorption capacities of the OMC under pH values of 6-8 are 12.

Case Summary: A 54-year-old male patient was scheduled to undergo a thoracoscopic-assisted radical resection of esophageal cancer through the upper abdomen and right chest.
As an important air pollutant, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) pose a serious threat to the ecological environment and human health. To achieve energy saving, carbon reduction, and safe and efficient degradation of VOCs, ambient temperature catalytic oxidation has become a hot topic for researchers. Firstly, this review systematically summarizes recent progress on the catalytic oxidation of VOCs with different types.

No studies have investigated the expression and function of long non-coding antisense RNA PCNA-AS1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). In this study, the expression of PCNA-AS1 was identified by qRT-PCR.

However, the internal concentration polarization (ICP) caused by the accumulation of solutes in the porous support layer will reduce permeation efficiency, which is currently unavoidable. In this paper, we doped Graphene oxide (GO) nanoparticles (50~150 nm) to a polyamide (PA) active layer and/or polysulfone (PSF) support layer, investigating the influence of GO on the morphology and properties of thin-film composite forward osmosis (TFC-FO) membranes.

This study evaluated whether opioid-free anesthesia can provide an effective analgesia-antinociception balance monitored by the / pain threshold index in laparoscopic radical colectomy.
Methods: We enrolled 102 patients undergoing laparoscopic radical colectomy with general anesthesia.
Background: Esophageal cancer has a high incidence and one of the highest mortality rates worldwide. There are few studies on the effects of sevoflurane on postoperative metastasis and recurrence of esophageal cancer. This study aimed to investigate the effect of sevoflurane on the progression of esophageal cancer and the underlying mechanism of the sensitivity to cisplatin.

We assessed whether opioid-free anesthesia would provide effective analgesia-antinociception monitored by analgesia index in video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery.
Methods: Patients (ASA Ⅰ-Ⅱ, 18-65 years old, BMI <30 kg m-2) scheduled to undergo video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery under general anesthesia were randomly allocated into two groups to receive opioid-free anesthesia (group OFA) with dexmedetomidine, sevoflurane plus thoracic paravertebral blockade or opioid-based anesthesia (group OA) with remifentanil, sevoflurane, and thoracic paravertebral blockade.
Glyphosate, a common broad-spectrum herbicide, is a serious environmental pollutant that causes a significant threat to humans. Hence, there is a pressing task to remove glyphosate from the environment. Here, we report an excellent FeCeO catalyst synthesized via the one-step co-precipitation method for activating peroxymonosulfate (PMS) to degrade glyphosate at 25 °C.

Therefore, it is urgent to reveal more autophagy-related lncRNAs, explore these lncRNAs' clinical significance, and find new targeted treatment strategies.
Methods: The corresponding data of HCC patients and autophagy genes were obtained from the TCGA database, and the human autophagy database respectively.
Different degrees of myocardial ischemia‑reperfusion injury during open‑heart surgery are inevitable. Therapeutic hypothermia is an important technique for reducing ischemia‑reperfusion injury; however, there are numerous potential adverse effects. Furthermore, the underlying molecular mechanisms of action of therapeutic hypothermia remain unclear.

Abdominal compartment syndrome is defined typically as the combination of a raised IAP of 20 mm Hg or higher and new onset of organ dysfunction or failure. The anesthetic management and perioperative management are very challenging.

Background: The silkworm, Bombyx mori, a typical representative of metamorphic insects, is of great agricultural and economic importance. The steroid hormone ecdysone (20-hydroxyecdysone, 20E) is the central regulator of insect developmental transitions, and its nuclear receptors are crucial for numerous biological processes, including reproduction, metabolism, and immunity. However, genome-wide DNA regulatory elements and the ecdysone receptor (EcR) that control these programs of gene expression are not well defined.
