Microplastics (MPs) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) coexist widely in lakes and affect ecological security. The coexistence characteristics and adsorption-desorption mechanisms between MPs and typical PFASs were explored in a typical eutrophic shallow lake (Taihu Lake). Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyethylene (PE) are the primary types of MPs in Taihu Lake, with average abundances in water and sediment of 18630 n/m and 584 n/kg, respectively.

Here, we propose an intelligent image compression approach with the first-proved semantic redundancy of biomedical data in the implicit neural function domain. This Semantic redundancy based Implicit Neural Compression guided with Saliency map (SINCS) can notably improve the compression efficiency for arbitrary-dimensional image data in terms of compression ratio and fidelity.

This study investigated the ingestion, migration, accumulation, and clearance of environmental aging MPs in the Japanese swamp shrimp (Macrobrachium nipponense). The concentrations of plastic additives and personal care products adsorbed onto MPs in natural river water were determined, and TK models for MPs and MPs-loaded pollutants were developed.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and rubber were used as the target MPs to characterize the changes in their morphological features after aging for one anniversary in atmospheric exposure and lake sedimentary burial environments and to investigate the adsorption and desorption behavior of the MPs to the coexisting phthalate esters (PAEs) plasticizer before and after aging. The results showed that the surface of MPs was rougher after exposure to the atmospheric environment and burial in a depositional environment, showing the characteristics of porous polymers.

By constructing a nomogram model, the risk of adverse outcomes can be displayed intuitively and individually, which has important clinical implications for medical diagnosis.
Objective: To develop and evaluate models for predicting patients with adverse outcomes of trauma that can be used in different data availability settings in China.
Photocatalysts are one of the effective methods to degrade antibiotic contamination, but the efficiency is low and the toxicity is not well recognized. Deep lattice doping to induce defect generation is an effective way to improve the performance of photocatalysts. Here, defect-rich bromine-doped BiOCl-XBr photocatalysts were constructed with the help of small molecules inserted into the interlayer.

Despite the presence of numerous trace organic pollutants in WWTP effluents, a comprehensive prioritization scheme is lacking, hindering effective control. This study screened 216 micropollutants, including pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and industrial chemicals, which had been detected in effluents from 46 WWTPs across China.

The photocatalytic reactions take place without requiring a transition metal reagent and provide products with broad scope. The methyl in TMEDA acts as the carbon source in pyridine ring construction, and BrCFCOEt plays the role of the terminal oxidant for free radical quenching.

This nested case-control study aims to compare the onset time and contributors between superficial and deep SWI. Consecutive adult patients who underwent cardiac surgery through median sternotomy in a single center from January 2011 to January 2021 constituted the cohort.

Designing an electrode that can generate abundant free radicals and O, which can effectively degrade and detoxify organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) through a co-oxidation pathway, is important. In this study, we prepared a electrode GO/MoS@AS by supporting MoS on alum sludge (AS) under graphene oxide (GO) nanoconfinement. The results show that the dominant role of O at the cathode and OH at the anode for degradation, in addition to the involvement of O in the cathodic degradation mechanism, can be attributed to the abundant precursor O and HO.

This work constructed "DOM-microorganisms-metabolism-VFAs" symbiotic ecologic networks to disclose how DOM dynamics variation intricately interacts with bacterial community networks, assembly processes, and microbial traits during WAS fermentation. The distribution of DOM was altered by different pretreatments, triggering the release of easily biodegradable compounds (O/C ratio > 0.

This study aims to provide insights into the financial burden of human brucellosis by examining hospital stays and associated costs for affected individuals.
Methods: In this retrospective study, we gathered updated data from 467 inpatient cases primarily diagnosed with human brucellosis at eight major tertiary hospitals in Beijing, China, spanning from 2013 to 2023.
Background: Given the preventable nature of most healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), it is crucial to understand their characteristics and temporal patterns to reduce their occurrence.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of medical record cover pages from a Chinese hospital information system was conducted for surgery inpatients from 2010 to 2019. Association rules mining (ARM) was employed to explore the association between disease, procedure, and HAIs.
Microplastics and antibiotics are prevalent and emerging pollutants in aquatic ecosystems, but their interactions in aquatic food chains remain largely unexplored. This study investigated the impact of polypropylene microplastics (PP-MPs) on oxytetracycline (OTC) trophic transfer from the shrimp (Neocaridina denticulate) to crucian carp (Carassius auratus) by metagenomic sequencing. The carrier effects of PP-MPs promoted OTC bioaccumulation and trophic transfer, which exacerbated enterocyte vacuolation and hepatocyte eosinophilic necrosis.

The presence of trace organic pollutants in the effluent of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) poses considerable risks to aquatic organisms and human health. A large-scale survey of 302 trace organic pollutants in the effluent of 46 Chinese WWTPs was conducted to gain an improved understanding of their occurrence and ecological risks. The survey data showed that 216 compounds in 11 chemical classes had been detected in effluents.
