In this work, we used experiments and density functional theory calculations to investigate the mechanism and driving forces of the reductive fragmentation of NHPI esters. Mechanistic studies suggest that the fragmentation behavior of the NHPI ester is influenced not only by the electronic nature of the substituent group but also by the stability of the radical intermediate. Neuroimaging is a cornerstone in the diagnosis and treatment decision-making for brain acute ischemic stroke. A rapid and accurate diagnosis is the key, specifically for time-critical reperfusion therapies. Successful reperfusion of salvageable penumbra can reduce the extent of ischemic stroke and thus improve clinical outcomes, whereas reperfusion of irreversibly affected brain tissue is thought to be futile and may result in harm due to the risk of hemorrhagic transformation.

Herein, two excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT)-capable α-cyanostilbene luminogens were synthesized by Schiff base reaction of salicylaldehyde-like α-cyanostilbene candidate with 1-naphthylamine and 3-biphenylamine, respectively. Two novel six-membered perimidocarbene (PIC)-based tetradentate Pt(II) complexes were designed and successfully synthesized. We designed and synthesized a new Schiff base probe, which incorporated the salicylaldehyde-analogue α-cyanostilbene and benzophenone hydrazone by the imine linkage.
