To report and evaluate the surgical outcomes of the treatment of attic cholesteatoma using epitympanoplasty with cartilage obliteration in the preservation of the posterior canal wall. Our study group consists of 138 subjects with attic cholesteatoma who underwent surgery of the mastoidectomy of the intact posterior canal wall and epitympanoplasty with cartilage obliteration, from November 2008 to November 2010. The major techniques employed included the following: (1) mastoidectomy with the preservation of the posterior canal; (2) removal of the scutum; (3) epitympanum obliteration with cartilage, and (4) mastoid obliteration with bone dust.

In this work, the electrochemical catalytic properties of the topological insulator bismuth selenide (Bi₂Se₃) were first studied. In the presence of Bi₂Se₃ the reduction current of dissolved O₂ could be significantly enhanced. The electron transfer resistivity (Rct) was greatly reduced at the Bi₂Se₃-PVP modified electrode as evidenced by the electrochemical impedance spectrometry, implying that the topological insulator Bi₂Se₃ could facilitate the electron transfer at the interface due to the excellent surface conductivity.

Objective: To study the clinical characteristics and relationship between sleep body posture, sleep phase and occurrence in patients with various degree of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).
Method: Polysomnography recordings of 100 adults with OSAHS were divided into 3 groups according to AHI: mild with apnea-hypopnea indices (5 < or = AHI < or = 15), moderate (15 < AHI < or = 30) and severe (30 < AHI). The polysomnography data and clinical characteristics were compared between each groups.

Objective: To explore the roles of cardiovascular disease in obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome.
Method: All 228 OSAHS patients underwent the examination of biochemical and complete blood count. The correlation analysis between AHI, AI, HI, LSaO2, complete blood count, and biochemical examination were employed.
The dopamine D(1), D(2), D(3) receptors, vesicular monoamine transporter type-2 (VMAT2), and dopamine transporter (DAT) densities were measured in 11 aged human brains (aged 77-107.8, mean: 91 years) by quantitative autoradiography. The density of D(1) receptors, VMAT2, and DAT was measured using [(3)H]SCH23390, [(3)H]dihydrotetrabenazine, and [(3)H]WIN35428, respectively.

Compared with other electrodes, the CPE is of lower background, better stability and reproducibility. The method is also applied to the determination of catechol.

However, molecular mechanism of MtbESAT-6-mediated membrane interaction, particularly in relation with its biological functions in pathogenesis, is poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the pH-dependent membrane interaction of MtbESAT-6, MtbCFP-10, and the MtbESAT-6/CFP-10 heterodimer, by using liposomal model membranes that mimic phagosomal compartments.

Background And Aims: Disturbances of microcirculation and hemorheological changes in the inner ear are the results of noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). Both the disturbances of microcirculation and hemorheological changes are the etiologies of NIHL development, but they are also the results. Although previous reports that inhalation of high concentration of CO(2) may increase cochlear blood flow (CoBF), the effects of carbogen on the cochlear microcirculation and NIHL remain unclear.

Objective: To explore a new model of in-situ xenograft lymphangiogenesis of human colonic adenocarcinomas in nude mice.
Method: On the basis of establishing subcutaneous xenograft lymphangiogenesis model of human colonic adenocarcinoms, in-situ xenografts were established through the in situ growth of the HT-29 human colonic adenocarcinoma cell line in nude mice. The numbers of lymphangiogenic microvessels, the expression of lymphatic endothelial cell markers lymphatic vessel endothelial hyaloronic acid receptor-1 (LYVE-1), D2-40 and the lymphatic endothelial growth factors vascular endothelial growth factor-C (VEGF-C), -D (VEGF-D) and receptor-3 (VEGFR-3) were compared by immunohistochemical staining, Western bolt and quantitative RT-PCR in xenograft in-situ models.

Objective: To explore the morphology, proliferative activity and adhesion of adipose-derived stem cells (ASC) seeded in the polylactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) scaffold, and to provide experimental data for fabricating tissue engineered tympanic membrane repairment materials.
Methods: Wistar rats were selected, and the ASC were isolated and co-cultured with the PLGA scaffold. The morphology and proliferative activity of ASC in the scaffold were examined by immunofluorescence of Vimentin and Ki67 respectively.
Lymph node metastasis of tumors is a crucial early step in the metastatic process. Tumor lymphangiogenesis plays an important role in promoting tumor metastasis to regional lymph nodes. Norcantharidin (NCTD) has been reported to possess potent anti-angiogenesis and antitumor properties in several cell lines and xenograft tumor models.

CD146 has been regarded as a novel potential therapeutic target for multiple cancers. The aim of the study was to investigate the expression of CD146 in gastric cancer and evaluate its clinical-pathological and prognostic significance. The expression of CD146 and three epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related proteins (E-cadherin, β-catenin and vimentin) was examined in 144 gastric cancers by immunohistochemistry.

It is vital to make an individual plan for each patient with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) according to the obstruction sites. The high resolution anatomical information of upper airway and soft tissue can be obtained, especially by MRI and CT scans. Dynamic and state-dependent imaging techniques are beneficial to study stereo changes of anatomy and morphology of upper airway in quiet breathing, sleeping or airway closure.

Drosophila female reproductive gland secretory cells reside within the adult spermathecae and parovaria, but their development remains poorly characterized.
Results: With cell-lineage tracing, we found that precursor cells downregulate lozenge and divide stereotypically to generate three-cell secretory units during pupal development.
