Background: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the most common malignancies. However, there is no effective treatment for OSCC.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify a natural compound with significant efficacy against OSCC and elucidate its primary mechanism of action.
The pathogens inactivation in wastewater sludges is vitally important for safely managing solid wastes and protecting public and environmental health especially in the emergency. Reports have shown the effectiveness of lime to kill virus pathogens in sludges, but mechanism of virus inactivation and related human diseases is unclear. This study evaluated representative limes of CaO/CaO on actual viral microorganism inactivation by viral metagenomic sequencing technology.

Design: The Baseline Investigation of Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (BASIC-OHCA) is a prospective, multicenter, population-based registry of emergency medical services (EMS)-assessed OHCA in China.
Setting: A total of 25 monitoring sites of all seven geographical regions were included, covering a pediatric population (age ≤ 19) of around 22.
Mycotoxin contamination is a major food safety issue worldwide, posing a serious threat to animal production performance and human health. Lactic acid bacteria are generally regarded as safe fermentation potential probiotics. They have the advantages of low toxicity, small pollution, strong specificity and high safety, and can reduce the contamination of microorganisms and mycotoxins.

However, the complexity and low efficiency for fabricating actuators along with their limited functionality hinder further progress. Here an efficient and mild catalyst-free thiol-yne click polymerization was developed to fabricate photosensitive polyimide (PI) films.

This article reports on a dual-network conductive system, PEDOT:PSS-co-PSBMA/XLG (PPSX) hydrogel dressing, Constructed using poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS) in combination with zwitterionic N, N-dimethyl-N-(2-methacryloyloxyethyl)-N- (3-sulfopropyl) ammonium betaine (SBMA) and nanoclay-synthesized lithium magnesium silicate (XLG). The hydrogel powder produced from it can absorb interfacial water within 30 s via physical interactions to spontaneously form hydrogels of arbitrary shapes.

Breast cancer is a highly widespread form of malignant tumor characterized by a high rate of recurrence and mortality; it primarily occurs when tumor cells spread to peripheral regions of the body. Macrophages have a significant impact on the proliferation and metastasis of breast cancer. The exosomes generated by these cells exhibit an extensive spectrum of capabilities in suppressing the spread of cancer cells.

This study aims to test if this GuMI system applies to different donors with different healthy states and uses metabolomics to reveal the role of gut microbes in modulating host- and diet-derived molecules in the gut lumen. Organoids-derived colonic monolayers were generated from an uninflamed region of diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn's disease patients and then integrated into the GuMI system to coculture with A2-165 for 2 to 4 days.

The use of probiotic fermented feed to replace antibiotic feed is one of the solutions, which has the potential to improve the intestinal microbiota, promote animal growth, and enhance immunity. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of fermented feed with (L.

In this study, we subjected a reed canary grass cultivar 'Chuanxi' to waterlogging, salt, and combined stresses to investigate its phenotypic characteristics, physiological indices, and transcriptome changes under these conditions.
Results: The results revealed that the growth rate was slower under salt stress than under waterlogging stress.
Dietary fiber (DF) is an important nutrient component in pig's diet that remarkably influences their growth and slaughter performance. The ability of pigs to digest DF depends on the microbial composition of the intestinal tract, particularly in the hindgut. However, studies on how DF alters the growth and slaughter performance of pigs by shaping the gut microbial composition and metabolites are still limited.

In this method, multiple NFDM time-domain signals are jointly processed as a whole to carry out nonlinear Fourier transform and inverse nonlinear Fourier transform (NFT-INFT) operations. These operations can fuse the multiple NFDM time-domain signals together, which is equivalent to the corresponding inverse process of a fiber transmission.

Studying human-microbe interactions creates the need for a universal culture medium that supports fungal, bacterial, and human cell culturing, while allowing sensitive analytical approaches such as OMICs and chromatography techniques. In this study, we established a fully defined, customizable adaptation of Dulbecco's modified Eagle medium (DMEM), allowing multi-kingdom culturing of , , and human oral cell lines, whereas minimal version of DMEM (mDMEM) did not support growth of , and neither did supplementation with dextrose, MEM non-essential amino acids, pyruvate, and Glutamax.

We investigated a more clinically practical TIR threshold and examined its association with the prognosis of COVID-19 patients with type 2 diabetes(T2D).
Research Design And Methods: 63 T2D patients complicated with COVID-19 were evaluated.
In pursuit of a sustainable future powered by renewable energy, hydrogen production through water splitting should achieve high energy efficiency with economical materials. Here, we present a nanofluidic electrolyzer that leverages overlapping cathode and anode electric double layers (EDLs) to drive the splitting of pure water. Convective flow is introduced between the nanogap electrodes to suppress the crossover of generated gases.

The neural circuit mechanism underlying the chronic pain/depression comorbidity remains unclear. The present study reports that two distinct subregions in the paraventricular thalamus (PVT) play different roles in this pathological process.

Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries have high theoretical energy density and are regarded as a promising candidate for next-generation energy storage systems. However, their practical applications are hindered by the slow kinetics of sulfur conversion and polysulfide shuttling. In particular, large-scale pouch cells show much poor cyclability.
