We focused on Gastrodia elata Blume polysaccharides (GEPs) with different molecular weights and structural characteristics to reveal their bioactivities, especially those abundant high-molecular-weight GEPs. A novel high-yield polysaccharide (GEP1-2) with the high molecular weight of 3.

However, the lack of quality markers reflecting activity and spatial characteristics limits their utilization and product stability. In this research, a selective and sensitive method integrating ultra performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry with feature-based molecular networking, and desorption electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry imaging developed to identify components and locate in-situ images of quality markers via spatial metabolomics analysis.

Global profiling of CoCCMs is essential for ascertaining specific functions of metabolites and their potential physiological roles in biogenic activities. However, simultaneous determination of these compounds is hampered by poor ionization efficiency, vast polarity differences, wide discrepancy of concentration ranges.

The precise circuit mechanisms underlying different symptoms remain poorly understood. We identified two distinct basal forebrain cholinergic subpopulations in mice projecting to the dorsal hippocampus (dHPC) or ventral hippocampus (vHPC), which exhibited distinct input organizations, electrophysiological characteristics, transcriptomics, and responses to positive and negative valences of stimuli and were critical for cognitive and emotional modulation, respectively.

Although green tea exhibits common detoxifying properties, its ability to mitigate the toxicity of HBQs still needs to be further deepened and explored. This study attempted to investigate the possible mechanism of the most common HBQ, 2,6-dichloro-1,4-benzoquinone (2,6-DCBQ) induced reproductive toxicity and elucidate the protective effect of green tea using a series of liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS) approaches.

Introduction: Lung cancer is the most common cancer worldwide, among which non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for about 80% of all lung cancers. Chemotherapy, a mainstay modality for NSCLC, has demonstrated restricted effectiveness due to the emergence of chemo-resistance and systemic side effects. Studies have indicated that combining chemotherapy with phototherapy, such as photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photothermal therapy (PTT), can enhance efficacy of therapy.

Previous studies have suggested that subregions of the mPFC have different and even opposite roles in regulating innate anxiety. However, the specific causal targets of their descending projections in modulating innate anxiety and stress-induced anxiety have yet to be fully elucidated.

However, polysaccharide characterization lags due to inherently complicated features and the limitations of existing detection approaches. We aimed to provide new insight into the fine structure and conformational visualization of polysaccharides from Gastrodia elata Blume, a medicinal and edible plant.

Previous studies indicated that some amino-containing metabolites are significant diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers of gastric cancer. However, the discovery of precise biomarkers for the preoperative diagnosis of gastric cancer is still in an urgent need.

Dominant individuals show better cognitive abilities, however, whether an individual's cognition can determine its social status has remained inconclusive. We found that mice show better cognitive abilities tend to possess a higher social rank after cohousing.

Based on 475 detected volatiles with GC × GC-TOF/MS analysis, the volatilome was screened with both positive aroma activities and high contents to discover some aliphatic acids, alcohols, aldehydes and esters, terpenoids as well as some alkenes and ketones. Especially, a series of homologous C6- and C8- acids, alcohols, aldehydes, esters as well as some terpenoids like limonene take the predominant contributions to the aromas.

What has been known for several decades is that the extraordinary variety of chemical compounds the plants are capable of synthesizing may be estimated in the range of hundreds of thousands, but only a fraction has been fully characterized to be implicated in defense responses. Despite the vast importance of these metabolites for plants and also for human health, our knowledge about their biosynthetic pathways and functions is still fragmentary.
