The inverse association between fasting blood glucose and the occurrence of gallbladder cancer in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients: a case-control study.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the correlation between diabetes mellitus (DM) and gallbladder cancer (GBC) in an epidemiological setting.

Methods: The study summarized the clinical and laboratory data of 2210 GBC Chinese patients in the authors' hospital. A total of 17 influencing factors for GBC, including gender, body mass index (BMI), fasting blood glucose (FBG), fasting insulin (FINS), the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4), and lipid indexes were analyzed using unconditional logistic regression analysis.

Effect of pneumovesicoscopic cohen surgery with adjustable suspension technique through the urethra on the treatment of primary vesicoureteral reflux disease in infants.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of pneumovesicoscopic Cohen surgery with an adjustable suspension technique through the urethra for the treatment of primary vesicoureteral reflux disease in infants.

Methods: This study retrospectively analysed the clinical data of 31 infants who underwent pneumovesicoscopic Cohen surgery with an adjustable suspension technique through the urethra in our hospital from January 2019 to December 2020. We also collected the clinical data of 29 infants who underwent open Cohen surgery in our hospital from January 2015 to December 2018 as a control variable.

[Molecular mechanism underlying difference of astragaloside Ⅳ content in imitating wild and cultivated Astragalus mongholicus].

The difference of astragaloside Ⅳ content and the expression of its biosynthesis related genes in imitating wild Astragalus mongolicus(IWA) and cultivated A.mongolicus(CA) under different growth years were systematically compared and analyzed.Then the key enzyme genes affected the difference of astragaloside Ⅳ content in the above two A.

Single-site laparoscopic high ligation of the extraperitoneal hernia sac with an epidural needle for incarcerated ovarian hernia in infants.

Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of single-site laparoscopic extraperitoneal hernia sac ligation with an epidural needle for incarcerated ovarian hernias in infants and young children.

Methods: The clinical data of 38 infants with incarcerated ovarian hernias who underwent single-site laparoscopic extradural needle extraperitoneal hernia sac ligation from January 2015 to January 2018 were retrospectively analysed.

Results: All procedures were successfully performed using laparoscopy with no need for conversion to open surgery.

This study was performed to summarize our clinical experience with testicular descent and fixation through a scrotal stria incision for the treatment of palpable cryptorchidism in children. This study included 1034 children with palpable cryptorchidism from March 2009 to March 2019. A scrotal stria incision was used to perform testicular descent and fixation.

[Advances in three important signaling pathways related to aging in Drosophila melanogaster and screening of anti-aging traditional Chinese medicine].

Aging is the most basic life feature of organisms. It is a phenomenon of dysfunction of cells,tissues and organs under the influence of external environment and internal factors during the growth of organisms. During the process,many cellular signaling pathways and biologically active substances,such as insulin/insulin-like growth factor( IGF)-1 signaling( IIS) pathway,apoptotic signaling pathway,mTOR signaling pathway,AMPK pathway,sirtuin pathway,deacetylases have been found to be closely related to the molecular mechanism of aging.

Laparoscopic Disconnected Pyeloplasty to Treat Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction (UPJO) in Children.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to assess the safety and clinical effectiveness of laparoscopic disconnected pyeloplasty in treating ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) in children. MATERIAL AND METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 122 young children with UPJO treated from February 2015 to February 2018 at our hospital. According to the surgery type, the patients were divided into 2 groups: a laparoscopic surgery group (group A, n=69) and a traditional open surgery group (group B, n=53).

Bioinformatic prediction of critical genes and pathways involved in longevity in Drosophila melanogaster.

The pursuit of longevity has been the goal of humanity since ancient times. Genetic alterations have been demonstrated to affect lifespan. As increasing numbers of pro-longevity genes and anti-longevity genes have been discovered in Drosophila, screening for functionally important genes among the large number of genes has become difficult.

Single-Site Laparoscopic Percutaneous Extraperitoneal Closure of the Internal Ring Using an Epidural Needle for Children with Inguinal Hernia.

BACKGROUND This study evaluated the safety and effectiveness of single-site laparoscopic percutaneous extraperitoneal closure of the internal ring using an epidural needle for children with inguinal hernia. MATERIAL AND METHODS We retrospectively analyzed clinical data of 542 children with inguinal hernia who underwent single-site laparoscopic percutaneous extraperitoneal closure of the internal ring using an epidural needle at our hospital from June 2014 to June 2017. RESULTS All patients successfully underwent surgery and none were converted to conventional surgery.

Laparoscopic Percutaneous Extraperitoneal Internal Ring Closure for Pediatric Inguinal Hernia: 1,142 Cases.

The purpose of this study was to summarize the clinical experience of the laparoscopic percutaneous extraperitoneal closure of the internal ring using an epidural needle for the treatment of inguinal hernias. There were 1,142 children with an isolated inguinal hernia who participated in this study from January 2013 to May 2018. An epidural needle was used to treat the indirect inguinal hernia with laparoscopic assistance.

Metabonomics approach to assessing the metabolism variation and gender gap of Drosophila melanogaster in aging process.

Drosophila melanogaster is increasingly used for study aging mechanism and evaluating anti-aging drugs, but the changes of metabolites and differences of metabolites change between male and female during the aging process are not well known. Metabolomics technology, a massive information provider, has promoted the understanding of metabolic profile and overall changes of metabolites in organism. In this study, H NMR based metabonomics was employed to investigate the dynamic changes of metabolites in whole bodies of male and female Drosophila melanogaster at 3, 15, 30, 45days and to research the gender gap of metabolites changes in aging process.

A Bioinformatic Approach for the Discovery of Antiaging Effects of Baicalein from Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi.

Aging is one of the most complicated phenomena and is the main risk factor for age-related diseases. Based on the public aging-related gene data, we propose a computational approach to predict the antiaging activities of compounds. This approach integrates network pharmacology and target fishing methods with the aim of identifying a potential antiaging compound from Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi.

Metabolic Syndrome Components are Associated with Increased Prostate Cancer Risk.

Background: Our study investigated the associations of metabolic syndrome (MS) and metabolic indicators with prostate cancer (PCa) risk in the Chinese Han ethnic population.

Material And Methods: We studied 101 PCa patients (without/with MS) and 120 healthy controls. Clinical data, including waist circumference, BMI, TG, FINS, FBG, and PCa-related indicators, were collected.

Heme oxygenase-1 polymorphism associated with severity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Background: Recent studies have suggested that susceptibility to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) might be related to the length polymorphism of (GT)(n) repeat in the 5'-flanking region of heme oxygenase-1 (HOX-1) gene. However, there has been no research about the relationship between the polymorphism of HOX-1 gene and severity of COPD.

Methods: The polymorphism of HOX-1 gene in 452 patients with COPD from Han population in Southwest China was analysed by fragment analysis.
