The Discovery and Anti-Colorectal Cancer Activities of Cembranolides from the South China Sea Soft Coral Sinularia pendunculata.

A new cembranolide, namely, sinupendunculide A (1), along with eight known related compounds (2-9), was isolated from the South China Sea Soft coral Sinularia pendunculata. The structure of sinupendunculide A (1) was established by extensive spectroscopic analysis and X-ray diffraction experiments. In a bioassay, anti-colorectal cancer (CRC) activity was performed, and the results showed that several compounds exhibited cytotoxicity against RKO cells, and a preliminary structure-activity relationship was analysed.

Virtual reality training improves accommodative facility and accommodative range.

Aim: To evaluate the effects of virtual reality (VR) training on different parameters of vision.

Methods: Sixty individuals ranged 18-60 years old with asthenopia were randomly divided into short-term (=40) and long-term (=20) treatment groups. They were given a specially designed VR training device only once for 15min or 3-4 times a day for 15min each time for 1mo.

Investigation of dry eye symptoms of medical staffs working in hospital during 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak.

The aim of this study was to survey the prevalence of dry eye symptoms (DES) among doctors and nurses in the period of 2019, novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.To evaluate the DES of doctors and nurses worked at front-line hospitals with protective glasses for a mean time of 4 to 6 hours, a questionnaire developed by the researchers with the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) was used. These data were evaluated using descriptive statistics and correlation test with SPSS 22.

MiR-27a-3p promotes esophageal cancer cell proliferation via F-box and WD repeat domain-containing 7 (FBXW7) suppression.

Emerging evidence has suggested that dysregulation of microRNA-27a-3p (miR-27a-3p) may contribute to tumor development and progression in various types of cancers. However, its role in esophageal cancer is still unknown. In the present study, miR-27a-3p was significantly increased in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) tissues and cell lines.

Botulinum toxin A in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia.

Aims: The aims of this study were to investigate the clinical effects and safety of botulinum toxin A (BTX-A) in treating trigeminal neuralgia and its influences on accompanied depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and quality of life.

Methods And Material: Eighty-seven patients with one-branch classical trigeminal neuralgia were injected with BTX-A in the pain area. The visual analogic scale score, sleep interference score, Hamilton Anxiety Scale score, Hamilton Depression Scale score, and side effects were assessed at 1 week prior to and 8 weeks after treatment, respectively.

Efficacy of dexmedetomidine on postoperative shivering: a meta-analysis of clinical trials.

Purpose: Shivering is a frequent complication in the postoperative period. The aim of the current meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy of dexmedetomidine on postoperative shivering.

Methods: Two researchers independently searched PubMed, EMBASE and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials for controlled clinical trials.

[Selection of the posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens length].

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy, safety and clinical value of calculating the posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens (ICL) length according to the corneal horizontal diameter.

Methods: This was a retrospective study. A Staar Visian implantable contact lens (ICL) was implanted in 32 patients (64 eyes) with high myopia in the Department of Ophthalmology, the First Affiliated Hospital, College of Medicine, Zhejiang University between November 15, 2005 and January 15, 2011.

[Mid-long term follow-up results in correction of extreme myopia by posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens].

Methods: This retrospective study included 993 eyes of 498 patients received ICL implantation from June 1996 to December 2008. Multivariate analysis and variance analysis were used to evaluate the stability of the results and to identify risk factors of the complications.
