Myogenesis is essential for skeletal muscle formation and regeneration after injury, yet its regulators are largely unknown. Here we identified fibronectin type III domain containing 1 (FNDC1) as a previously uncharacterized myokine. In vitro studies showed that knockdown of Fndc1 in myoblasts reduces myotube formation, while overexpression of Fndc1 promotes myogenic differentiation.

Esophageal cancer (EC) is associated with high mortality rates and widespread resistance to chemotherapeutic agents, like paclitaxel (PTX), posing a significant global public health challenge. ANP32E is a member of the acidic nuclear phosphoprotein 32 family, its specific biological functions and mechanisms in EC remain unclear. Through bioinformatics analysis and clinical tissue sample studies, we observed a marked upregulation of ANP32E expression in EC tissues.

Development and validation of a nomogram of all-cause mortality in adult Americans with diabetes.

This study aimed to develop and validate a predictive model of all-cause mortality risk in American adults aged ≥ 18 years with diabetes. 7918 participants with diabetes were enrolled from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999-2016 and followed for a median of 96 months. The primary study endpoint was the all-cause mortality.

To investigate the levels of 131I activity in thyroid of workers at the place of radioiodine therapy and their main influential factors in China, 341 workers at 38 hospitals performing radioiodine therapy procedure in five provinces were recruited to be measured in 2021. A hand-held gamma spectrometer with NaI(Tl) probe was plastered to the thyroids and thighs of the subjects during the measurement, and each measurement time was 120 s. The internal exposure dose was calculated, and the committed effective dose was estimated.

Here, we report that PHR1 plays a crucial role in LP-induced leaf senescence, showing delayed leaf senescence in phr1 mutant and accelerated leaf senescence in 35S:PHR1 transgenic Arabidopsis under LP stress.

In this study, the recombinant egg ribonuclease SjCP1412, which had RNase activity, was successfully prepared.

Motor cortex repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in major depressive disorder - A preliminary randomized controlled clinical trial.

Background: Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) at left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (lDLPFC) is commonly used in major depressive disorder (MDD), even though its therapeutic efficacy is limited. Given that many MDD patients show psychomotor retardation, we aim to examine whether the left motor cortex (lMC) as a novel rTMS target would provide effective and well-tolerated treatment as being comparable to lDLPFC-rTMS.

Methods: In this prospective double-blind randomized single-center study, 131 MDD patients were randomly assigned to the lDLPFC or lMC group and were treated with 10 Hz rTMS (90 % motor threshold) applied twice daily for 4000 pulses continuously over five days.

The polar lipid profile of strain RS consists of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, and unidentified aminophospholipid.

These viruses cause significant economic losses and pose a potential public health threat.

Purpose: The goal of this study was to compare the efficacy and tolerability of insulin degludec with those of other long-acting insulin analogues (insulin glargine and insulin detemir) in patients with type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus (T1D or T2D).

Methods: Those randomized controlled trials comparing insulin degludec with other long-acting insulin analogues in the treatment of patients with T1D or T2D published on or before August 21, 2022, were retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, and EMBASE. The efficacy end points were the changes from baseline in hemoglobin A and fasting plasma glucose (FPG).

Methods: Patients in PCI postoperative II cardiac rehabilitation were selected and randomly divided into the experimental group (community group), the experimental group (rehabilitation group), and the control group. Patients in the control group received the routine cardiac rehabilitation management scheme, while those in the experimental groups received continuous nursing protocol based on the hierarchical diagnosis and treatment mode.
