Objective: To find an ideal reconstruction method after total gastrectomy.

Methods: With 12 healthy persons as control, a total of 120 gastric cancer patients received their digestive tract reconstruction after total gastrectomy were randomized into Roux-en-y esophagojejunostomy group (A), P pouch with Roux-en-y esophagojejunostomy group (B), Hunt-Lawrence esophagojejunostomy group (C), and jejunal interposition esophagojejunostomy group (D). After operation, quality of life, prognosis nutrition index (PNI), body weight, serum nutritional parameters, gastrointestinal hormone level and immunological state were evaluated.

Objective: A number of putative virulence factors have been postulated to be relevant to the clinical outcome of Helicobacter pylori infection based on strains identified in the western countries. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between genotypes of vacA, cagA and iceA and duodenal ulcer disease in patients from Hong Kong.

Methods: Seventy-two dyspeptic patients with or without duodenal ulcer disease, with proven H.

Using the electron spin resonance (ESR) and probe technique, the species of reactive oxygen free radicals and the oxygen consumption were observed in the metabolic process of oxygen of leukocytes from leukemia patients and healthy persons. Results showed that weak ESR spectrum of hydroxyl radical ((*)OH) signal was detected in the leukemia patient's leukocytes, there was no significant difference in oxygen consumption with or without PMA stimulation; superoxide anion (O(2)) in normal leukocytes was detected, and oxygen consumption increased markedly compared to the normal respiration without PMA stimulation (P < 0.001).
