Nickel hexacyanoferrate film modified gold electrode was prepared by a simple chemical deposition procedure from a fresh prepared solution containing ferricyanide, Ni(2+), and sodium nitrate. The resultant films have solo composition and are significantly stable as compared to the electrochemically deposited NiHCF films. For different concentrations of Na(+) in the solution, the formal potential values of NiHCF shift according to the Nernstian behavior with a slope of 48 mV in the range of 10(-4) to 1.

Results: A field population (F) of WBPH was collected, with 50.
Ginsenoside Rg1, cinnamic acid, and tanshinone IIA (RCT) are effective anticancer and antioxidant constituents of traditional Chinese herbal medicines of Ginseng, Xuanseng, and Danseng. The molecular mechanisms of anticancer effects of those constituents and their targets are unknown. Prohibitin, an inner membrane-bound chaperone in mitochondrion involved in the regulation of cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, aging, and apoptosis, was chosen as a candidate molecular target because of its frequent up-regulation in various cancer cells.

Lectins play an important role in many biological systems and are used increasingly in human disease therapy. To improve our understanding of fish lectins we purified and characterized a fucose-binding lectin from the gill of bighead carp (Aristichthys nobilis). The purification procedure consisted of extracting soluble proteins in 25mM Tris-HCl buffer (pH 8.

Taking pectic polysaccharides from angelica sinensis as samples, the calibration curve was established between DE and the ratio of A1 730/(A1 730 + A1 630). The square of the linear correlation coefficient was 0.

In the present paper, we describe the fabrication and analytical characteristics of fluorescence-based zinc ion-sensing glass slides. To construct the sensor, a benzoxazole derivative 4-benzoxazol-2'-yl-3-hydroxyphenyl allyl ether (1) with a terminal double bond was synthesized and copolymerized with 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) on the activated surface of glass slides by UV irradiation. In the absence of Zn(2+) at pH 7.

A novel cycloheptapeptide, tunicyclin A, with a unique tricyclic ring cyclopeptide skeleton, was isolated from Psammosilene tunicoides. Its structure was elucidated by extensive NMR and MS analysis. Biogenetically, tunicyclin A might be derived from cyclo-(Pro(1)-Ser(2)-(gamma-keto-delta-aldehedyl-Glu(3))-Leu(4)-Val(5)-Gly(6)-Ser(7)) via two steps of nucleophilic addition.

Water chestnut is one of the most popular vegetables in Asian countries that grows in shallow water. Eighteen water chestnut samples were collected from Lake Tai and six samples were bought at markets in Wuxi, China, in October 2007. Extraction solution of water chestnut was cleaned up with a solid phase extraction column and immunoaffinity chromatography cartridges, then the microcystin (MC) level was detected by indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS).
