This study investigated the relationship between essential plasma metals (Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Se, Zn) and telomere length in 2,194 Chinese adults aged ≥ 30 years. Metal concentrations were measured using ICP-MS, and leukocyte relative telomere length (rTL) was assessed by qPCR. In the elderly, Cr and Mn were significantly positively correlated with rTL, while Mo, Zn, and Cu showed negative correlations.

As a major threat to global health, particulate air pollution has a great possibility of affecting bone metabolism. However, the results of limited studies examining the association between particulate air pollution and bone mineral density (BMD) as well as incident osteoporosis (OP) are conflicting, and the role of physical activity in the association above remains to be further studied. We evaluated the relationship between long-term exposure to Black Carbon (BC) and Particulate Matter (PM) (including PM (particles with aerodynamic diameter < 1 μm), PM (particles with aerodynamic diameter < 2.

Multiobjective shortest path problem (MSPP) is one of the most critical issues in network optimization, aimed at identifying all efficient paths across conflicting objectives. Nowadays, existing methods face substantial bottlenecks in addressing the diverse preferences of decision makers and high spatiotemporal overhead caused by the calculation process, particularly in cases with large-scale networks. To overcome these obstacles, a generalized MSPP in large-scale networks is investigated with the aim of solving it with diverse preferences of decision makers satisfied and low spatiotemporal overhead.

Understanding the thermal degradation mechanism of organic solar cells (OSCs) and developing strategies to enhance their thermal stability are crucial before they can be commercialized. In this paper, we demonstrated that in a structure-inverted ITO/ZnO/PM6/L8-BO/TCTA/MoO/Ag solar cell, a thin 4,4',4″-tris(carbazol-9-yl)-triphenylamine (TCTA) film between MoO and PM6:L8-BO can significantly suppress the fast short circuit current () loss and the slow but continuous open circuit voltage () and fill factor (FF) decay upon 150 °C thermal annealing. XPS and TOF-SIMS results confirm that thermal annealing leads to the formation of (MoO) at the MoO/PM6/L8-BO interface and the diffusion of (MoO) through the photoactive layer.

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed malignancy and a leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women worldwide. Although NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) has been implicated in various oncogenic processes, its exact function in breast cancer progression, metabolic reprogramming, and immune modulation remains unclear.

Methods: We used murine 4T1 and EO771 breast cancer models to generate NOX4 knockout (KO) cell lines via CRISPR/Cas9.

In this study, a supramolecular polymer gelator functionalized with a phosphate anion, PMUS-P, has been successfully synthesized through radical polymerization, and its physicochemical, rheological properties and tribological performance were carefully evaluated as a gel lubricant formed through non-covalent self-assembly in 500SN base oil. The results showed that the gel has a dense network structure, providing excellent stability and mechanical strength. Additionally, the PMUS-P gel exhibits good shear-thinning behavior and excellent creep recovery, effectively avoiding the volatility of lubricants.

Background: While current epidemiological studies have documented associations between environmental metals and renal dysfunction, the majority have concentrated on plasma metal levels. The relationship between urinary metal exposure and chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains contentious, particularly within specific demographic groups.

Methods: This cross-sectional study included 2919 rural Chinese adults recruited between 2018 and 2019.

The aqueous zinc metal battery holds great potential for large-scale energy storage due to its safety, low cost, and high theoretical capacity. However, challenges such as corrosion and dendritic growth necessitate controlled zinc deposition. This study employs epitaxy to achieve large-area, dense, and ultraflat zinc plating on textured copper foil.

Axillary dose restriction (ADR) is rarely implemented in breast cancer radiotherapy by radiation oncologists to minimize exposure to organs at risk (OARs), particularly the axilla. This prospective randomized controlled study aims to evaluate the efficacy of ADR in improving plan quality (PQ) and its impact on acute radiation dermatitis (ARD) in breast cancer radiotherapy. The study recruited breast cancer patients who required postoperative radiotherapy but did not have an indication for axillary irradiation.

In this paper, the pH-sensitive targeting functional material NGR-poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline)-cholesteryl methyl carbonate (NGR-PEtOz-CHMC, NPC) modified quercetin (QUE) liposomes (NPC-QUE-L) was constructed. The structure of NPC was confirmed by infrared spectroscopy (IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance hydrogen spectrum (H-NMR). Pharmacokinetic results showed that the accumulation of QUE in plasma of the NPC-QUE-L group was 1.

Objective: The dietary index for gut microbiota (DI-GM) is a newly proposed metric for assessing diet quality, and its relationship with biological age is unclear. We hypothesize that consuming foods conducive to a healthy gut microbiota environment may decelerate aging.

Methods: This cross-sectional study utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) spanning the years 2007 to 2018.

We report a radical cyano-cyclization of 1,6-enynes with isonitriles via photochemically driven nickel catalysis, forging alkenyl nitrile-tethered γ-lactams under mild conditions. This reaction leverages the photoexcitation of generated nickel (isonitrile) species to facilitate isonitriles serving as alkyl radical precursors and cyanide sources. The reaction accommodates a wide range of substrates, exhibiting excellent regioselectivity and / stereoselectivity.

Article Synopsis
  • - Lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide-based liquid electrolytes show potential for improving efficiency and longevity in next-gen Li-metal batteries, but the role of anions in forming the solid-electrolyte interphase is not well understood.
  • - This study combines electrochemical methods and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, along with computational models, to investigate electrolyte decomposition reactions and how they relate to interphase solubility and passivation effectiveness.
  • - The findings suggest that not all decomposition products end up in the passivation layer, and better-performing electrolytes can achieve effective interphases while reducing decomposition by incorporating more decomposition products from anions.

Both oat β-glucans (OGs) and their hydrolyzed counterparts, oat β-gluco-oligosaccharides (OGOs), are dietary fibers indigestible by humans. They serve as substrates for the colonic intestinal flora, exhibiting potential prebiotic properties. This study, through in vitro digestion simulation, found that OGs and OGOs are not degraded and can safely pass through the upper digestive tract to reach the colon.

Tuning the solvation structure of lithium ions electrolyte engineering has proven effective for lithium metal (Li) anodes. Further advancement that bypasses the trial-and-error practice relies on the establishment of molecular design principles. Expanding the scope of our previous work on solvent fluorination, we report here an alternative design principle for non-fluorinated solvents, which potentially have reduced cost, environmental impact, and toxicity.
