Numerous studies conducted in recent years indicate that mammalian E3 ubiquitin ligases serve as key regulators in the maintenance of cellular homeostasis by targeting the ubiquitination of substrate proteins and activating downstream signaling pathways. SYVN1, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, is characterized by its significant functions in regulating various biological processes, including molecular mechanisms related to gene expression, signaling pathways, and cell death, among others. Consequently, SYVN1 plays a crucial role in both normal human physiology and the pathogenesis of various diseases, such as oncogenesis, cardiovascular disorders, immune regulation, skeletal anomalies, and neurological diseases.

Background: The potato tuber moth (PTM), Phthorimaea operculella, is an economically important pest of potato crops worldwide. So far, the application of chemical pesticides is the major measure to manage PTM, but it induces serious deleterious impacts on the environment and human health. Here, we screened the entomopathogenic fungi that are lethal to PTM, and tested their sublethal impacts on PTM development, mortality, and reproduction as well as that of ectoparasitic mite Pyemotes zhonghuajia, a natural enemy of PTM.

Although advances in long-read sequencing technology and genome assembly techniques have facilitated the study of genomes, little is known about the genomes of unique Chinese indigenous breeds, including the Huai pig. Huai pig is an ancient domestic pig breed and is well-documented for its redder meat color and high forage tolerance compared to European domestic pigs. In the present study, we sequenced and assembled the Huai pig genome using PacBio, Hi-C, and Illumina sequencing technologies.

  • Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading global cause of death, and while its underlying mechanisms are being studied, many aspects remain unclear, requiring further research.
  • Recent advances in proteomics have helped identify important posttranslational modifications, such as succinylation and nitrosylation, which play crucial roles in processes like cell metabolism and oxidative stress related to CVD.
  • The review highlights the potential treatments for CVD through histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors and suggests new research avenues regarding the role of posttranslational modifications in the disease's pathogenesis.

  • This study collected data from over 35,000 COVID-19 patients in China to analyze the rates of olfactory (smell) and gustatory (taste) dysfunctions following infection.!
  • Findings revealed a 67.75% incidence rate of these dysfunctions, with factors like gender, smoking, vaccination doses, and oral health affecting both the likelihood of experiencing and recovering from these symptoms.!
  • On average, smell and taste scores declined significantly after infection but showed some recovery over time, with 59.16% of patients reporting improvement, though some experienced prolonged symptoms lasting over 28 days.!

The infection caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is associated with high mortality in piglets worldwide. Host factors involved in the efficient replication of PEDV, however, remain largely unknown. Our recent proteomic study in the virus-host interaction network revealed a significant increase in the accumulation of CALML5 (EF-hand protein calmodulin-like 5) following PEDV infection.

We investigated the inter- and intra-species differences of leaf vein traits of three dominant species, , var. , and of Niubeiling (subtropical humid climate) and Taohuagou (warm temperate semi-humid climate), located in the eastern and western Qinling Mountains. The nine examined leaf vein traits included primary leaf vein width, secondary leaf vein width, mean fine vein width, primary vein density, fine vein density, vein areole diameter, areole density, 3D fine vein surface area, and fine vein volume.

Motivation: Utilizing both purebred and crossbred data in animal genetics is widely recognized as an optimal strategy for enhancing the predictive accuracy of breeding values. Practically, the different genetic background among several purebred populations and their crossbred offspring populations limits the application of traditional prediction methods. Several studies endeavor to predict the crossbred performance via the partial relationship, which divides the data into distinct sub-populations based on the common genetic background, such as one single purebred population and its corresponding crossbred descendant.
