Background: Calmodulin-binding transcription activator (CAMTA) proteins play significant roles in signal transduction, growth and development, as well as abiotic stress responses, in plants. Understanding their involvement in the low-temperature stress response of teak is vital for revealing cold resistance mechanisms.
Results: Through bioinformatics analysis, the CAMTA gene family in teak was examined, and six CAMTA genes were identified in teak.
Uncontrolled release of active agents in active packaging reduces antimicrobial efficacy, hindering the effective protection of perishable products from microbial infection. Herein, a novel defective engineering was proposed to design defective and hollow ZIF-8 structures grown on TEMPO oxidized cellulose nanofibrils (TOCNFs) and use them as fast-reacting nanocarriers for loading and controlled release curcumin (Cur) in sodium alginate (SA) active packaging systems (CZT-Cur-SA). By employing stable chelation between tannic acid (TA) and ZIF-8 zinc ions, the connections between zinc ions and imidazole ligands were severed to form a loose and hollow structure, which facilitates the rapid reaction and release of active ingredients triggered by pH changes in the microenvironment.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common cause of disability among the elderly, profoundly affecting quality of life. This study aims to leverage bioinformatics and machine learning to develop an artificial neural network (ANN) model for diagnosing OA, providing new avenues for early diagnosis and treatment.
Methods: From the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, we first obtained OA synovial tissue microarray datasets.
Objective: This study investigated the relationships between baseline peptide antigen-related IgG levels and 8-week antipsychotic drug (APD) treatment response rates and one-year treatment outcomes, as well as the relationships between changes in peptide antigen-related IgG levels and one-year treatment outcomes, in first-episode schizophrenia (FES) patients.
Methods: Sixteen peptide antigen-related IgGs from proteins encoded by schizophrenia-related genes were selected on the basis of several selection criteria from a 2022 genome-wide association study. Novel peptide antigen-related IgG levels were measured in drug-naïve FES patients at baseline (n = 155) and in plasma samples from 60 healthy controls (HCs).
Objective: Depression is a complex affective disorder characterized by high prevalence and severe impact, commonly presenting with cognitive impairment. The objective diagnosis of depression lacks precise standards. This study investigates eye movement characteristics during emotional face recognition task (EFRT) in depressive patients to provide empirical support for objective diagnosis.

Herein, a novel in-situ condensation strategy was proposed to construct sustained released chitosan (CS)-based active packaging film, in which the soybean separation protein (SPI)-carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) emulsion (SCCE) containing tea tree essential oil (TTO) was physically incorporated into CS matrix. Originating from the strong electrostatic interaction of negatively charged SPI-CMC emulsion and positively charged CS matrix, a robust shell was in-situ formed on the outermost layer and served as armor to boost the structural stability of emulsion.

Methods: CNKI, Wanfang database, VIP database, CBM, PubMed, web of Science, and Embase databases were searched to collect studies reporting the positive rate of rubella antibody among the Chinese healthy populations between 2001 and 2022. We conducted a meta-analysis using R language, and data were combined using random effects model.
Background: Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an uncommon but serious adverse reaction after vaccination. However, its association with vaccines other than the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine remains debatable. This study aimed to analyze ITP cases following influenza vaccination and assess any potential association.

This study aimed to assess the impact of EO blends (oregano, cinnamon and lemon oils) on growth performance, meat physicochemical parameters, intestinal health and lipid metabolism in the small intestine of weaned Bamei (a kind of obese-type pig) piglets. One hundred and forty-four male 60-day-old weaned Bamei piglets were randomly assigned to three groups of six replicates each: CON (basal diet), T1 (basal diet + 250 mg/kg EO), and T2 (basal diet + 500 mg/kg EO) over 28 days.

Mitochondria, crucial for hepatocyte metabolism, are significantly damaged during hepatic I/R and the extent of mitochondrial damage correlates with hepatocyte injury. PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy, is a specialized form of cellular autophagy, that maintains mitochondrial quality by identifying and removing damaged mitochondria, thereby restoring cellular homeostasis.

Herein, ferrocene (Fc) was combined with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and polyethyleneimine (PEI) for Cr(VI) remediation. Fc species possessed reversible redox behavior and low ionization potential, yet it faced challenges with conductivity and stability.

Current evidence from preclinical research and a number of small clinical trials indicates that SGLT2 inhibitors could also be effective for MAFLD. MAFLD is associated with a higher risk of chronic liver disease and multiple extrahepatic events, especially cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Herein, a sort of eco-friendly and multifunctional soybean protein isolates crosslinked gelatins (SPI-c-Gel) composite mulch films were elaborately designed through the Schiff base reaction. The formation of physical entanglement and chemical cross-linking between the molecular chains of SPI and Gel could effectively dissipate the loading energy and thereby strengthen the resistance of the composite mulch films to water penetration.

Grafting lignin extracted from pulping black liquor onto hydrogel not only endows hydrogel with strong adsorption capacity, but also realizes the high value utilization of lignin, thereby alleviating the environmental pressure caused by the exhaust gas generated by direct combustion of black liquor. However, those lignin fragments have lost generous active functional groups as the high temperature polycondensation during industrial production, restricting the improvement of lignin-based hydrogel adsorption capacity. Herein, we propose a strategy combining amination and oxidation to prepare lignin derivatives with low molecular weight and high activity groups.

Low pretreatment temperatures are beneficial for enhancing the activity of both soluble lignin and lignin in pretreated solids. To achieve high-activity lignin and a higher glucose yield at a lower lignin removal rate and reduced enzymatic loading, the synergistic effects of octyl glucoside and tea saponin during low-temperature ammonia‑oxygen pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis were explored. Utilizing a moderated lignin extraction at 38 %, with pretreatment at 110 °C, and enriched with 1 % octyl glucoside and 0.

The majority of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients had already progressed to a locally advanced or even advanced stage at initial diagnosis, making routine surgery ineffective. Chemotherapy and immunotherapy are important neoadjuvant treatments for ESCC, however, it remains unknown how treatment will affect the immunological microenvironment, especially at the spatial level.
