The infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, also called CLN1 disease, is a fatal neurodegenerative disease caused by mutations in the CLN1 gene encoding palmitoyl protein thioesterase 1 (PPT1). Identifying the depalmitoylation substrates of PPT1 is crucial for understanding CLN1 disease. In this study, we found that GABAR, the critical synaptic protein essential for inhibitory neurotransmission, is a substrate of PPT1.

Herein, a novel electrothermal desolvation (ED) introduction approach is developed to enhance the analytical sensitivity of the point discharge (PD)-based microplasma-optical emission spectrometric (PD-MIP-OES) system for detecting trace Cd, Zn, Pb and Mn in environmental water samples. Liquid samples are converted into aerosols through a miniature ultrasonic nebulizer, and subsequently desolvated by electric heating at 350 °C. The analytes obtained after condensation (referring to the smaller apertures aerosols and volatile analytes after ED and condensation) are excited and detected by PD-MIP-OES.

Autotrophic denitrification in sulfur packed-bed reactors (SPBR) has been widely employed for treating municipal secondary effluent. However, the fixed volume of packed sulfur in SPBR restricts the ability to adjust denitrification efficiency in response to fluctuating influent nitrate levels, leading to either effluent standard exceedances or unnecessary sulfur consumption. The accumulation of the emerging pollutant salicylic acid (SA) in the environment has gained much attention. The interaction between the gut microbiota and mercaptopurine (6-MP), a crucial drug used in pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treatment, has not been extensively studied.
