The separation of large-size-range particles of complex biological samples is critical but yet well resolved. As a label-free technique, dielectrophoresis (DEP)-based particle separation faces the challenge of how to configure DEP in an integrated microfluidic device to bring particles of various sizes into the effective DEP force field. Herein, we propose a concept that combines the passive flow fraction mechanism with the accumulative DEP deflection effect in a cascaded manner.

Article Synopsis
  • Coprinopsis cinerea serves as a model organism to study the organized developmental processes of basidiomycetes, which rely on genetic and environmental coordination.
  • Oxylipins, particularly psi factors, are critical in controlling the balance between sexual and asexual spore development in fungi, yet the role of specific enzymes like linoleate dioxygenases in this process remains largely unknown.
  • This study identified and characterized linoleate dioxygenases in basidiomycetes, finding that knocking out a specific gene (Ccldo1) in C. cinerea increased fruiting body formation, indicating that this gene negatively impacts sexual reproduction without affecting asexual reproduction.

The increasing interest in multilineage differentiating stress-enduring (Muse) cells within the field of regenerative medicine is attributed to their exceptional homing capabilities, prolonged viability in adverse conditions, and enhanced three-germ-layer differentiate ability, surpassing their parent mesenchymal stem cells. Given their abundant sources, non-invasive collection procedure, and periodic availability, human menstrual blood-derived endometrium stem cells (MenSCs) have been extensively investigated as a potential resource for stem cell-based therapies. However, there is no established modality to isolate Muse cells from MenSCs and disparity in gene expression profiles between Muse cells and MenSCs remain unknown.
