Traditional depression detection methods typically rely on single-modal data, but these approaches are limited by individual differences, noise interference, and emotional fluctuations. To address the low accuracy in single-modal depression detection and the poor fusion of multimodal features from electroencephalogram (EEG) and speech signals, we have proposed a multimodal depression detection model based on EEG and speech signals, named the multi-head attention-GCN_ViT (MHA-GCN_ViT). This approach leverages deep learning techniques, including graph convolutional networks (GCN) and vision transformers (ViT), to effectively extract and fuse the frequency-domain features and spatiotemporal characteristics of EEG signals with the frequency-domain features of speech signals.

Non-metal elements are often merely regarded as electronic modulators, yet their intrinsic characteristics are frequently overlooked. Indeed, non-metal elements possess notable advantages in high-abundance, excellent hydrogen adsorption and the ability of active sites to be inversely activated, rendering them potential photoelectrochemical (PEC) materials. However, weak non-metal interbinding, susceptibility to photocorrosion, and high photogenerated carrier recombination rates hinder their practical applications.

Background: Serum albumin reflects nutritional status and is associated with postoperative complications and mortality. Delta albumin (ΔAlb), defined as the difference between preoperative and lowest postoperative levels, could predict complications and mortality, even with postoperative levels above 30 g/L prompting albumin infusions. This study aimed to assess how ΔAlb relates to outcomes in craniotomy patients with brain tumors.

Objective: An elevated preoperative red cell distribution width (RDW) is associated with adverse prognostic outcomes in various diseases. However, the correlation between changes in RDW (ΔRDW) and the prognosis following brain tumor craniotomy remains unclear. Accordingly, this study aimed to investigate the prognostic significance of perioperative changes in RDW in patients undergoing brain tumor craniotomy.

Article Synopsis
  • Red cell distribution width (RDW) is being studied as a potential inflammatory biomarker, particularly its impact on outcomes following brain tumor surgeries, with unclear previous associations.
  • In a study involving nearly 11,000 patients, higher preoperative RDW-CV levels were linked to an increased risk of long-term mortality, but no significant differences were found for 30-day mortality rates.
  • Additionally, elevated RDW-CV levels correlated with various postoperative complications, such as acute kidney injury and pneumonia, highlighting RDW's potential role in predicting patient outcomes after craniotomy.

Antimony selenide is a promising P-type photocatalyst, but it has a large number of deep energy level defects, leading to severe carrier recombination. The construction of a heterojunction is a common way to resolve this problem. However, the conventional heterojunction system inevitably introduces interface defects.

  • * Methods: Adult patients who underwent elective craniotomy from January 2011 to March 2021 had their peak blood glucose levels monitored for 7 days post-surgery to determine the effects of different levels of hyperglycemia.
  • * Results: Out of 14,907 patients, moderate and severe persistent hyperglycemia were significantly associated with higher 30-day mortality, while mild hyperglycemia showed no such link, regardless of pre-existing diabetes. Postoperative blood glucose was found to be a better mortality predictor than preoperative levels.
