Disturbances in lipid metabolism are closely related to intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). However, the lipid metabolism characteristics of nucleus pulposus (NP) cells during IDD are unclear. Exercise protects against IDD and acts as a potent mediator of organ metabolism, in which muscle-secreted myokines actively participate.

: Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is a common metabolic disorder in children that can impact growth and neurodevelopment, particularly during infancy and early childhood. DUOXA2, a DUOX maturation factor, plays a crucial role in the maturation and activation of dual oxidase DUOX2 (a member of the NADPH oxidase family). DUOX2 can correctly migrate to the plasma membrane from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) with the help of DUOXA2, and the two proteins together form a stable complex that promotes hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) generation in the synthesis of thyroid hormones.

The autophagy-lysosome axis is an evolutionarily conserved intracellular degradation pathway which constitutes an important component of host innate immunity against microbial infections. Here, we show that African swine fever virus (ASFV), one of most devastating pathogens to the worldwide swine industry, can reshape the autophagy-lysosome axis by recruiting the critical lysosome membrane proteins (LAMP1 and LAMP2) to viral factories while inhibiting autophagic induction in macrophages. The screening of viral membrane proteins led to the identification of several ASFV membrane proteins, exemplified by viral protein pEP153R, that could significantly alter the subcellular localization of LAMP1/2 when expressed alone in transfected cells.

Aqueous flow batteries (AFBs) are promising long-duration energy storage system owing to intrinsic safety, inherent scalability, and ultralong cycle life. However, due to the thicker (3-5 mm) and heavier (300-600 g m) nature, the current used graphite felt (GF) electrodes still limit the volume/weight power density of AFBs. Herein, a lightweight (≈50 g m) and ultrathin (≈0.
