Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of glucose levels on admission, on the risk of 30-day major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), and to assess the difference in outcome between ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) patients.

Methods: This study was a post hoc analysis of the Acute Coronary Syndrome Quality Improvement in Kerala Study, and 13,398 participants were included in the final analysis. Logistic regression models were used to assess the association between glucose levels on admission and the risk of 30-day MACEs, adjusting for potential confounders.

Background: A substantial portion of non-obese population is afflicted with Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). The Triglyceride Glucose (TyG) index, a quantifier of insulin resistance magnitude, is determined by the product of fasting plasma glucose and triglyceride concentrations. The relationship between the TyG index and NAFLD within this cohort remains ambiguous.

Depth estimation is an important part of the perception system in autonomous driving. Current studies often reconstruct dense depth maps from RGB images and sparse depth maps obtained from other sensors. However, existing methods often pay insufficient attention to latent semantic information.

Background: The purpose of this study was to examine the mechanism of Duhuo Jisheng Decoction (DHJSD) in the treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD).

Methods: The active compounds of DHJSD and their corresponding targets were obtained from the TCMSP database. "Intervertebral disc degeneration" was used as a search term in the DisGeNET, GeneCards, Comparative Toxicogenomics Database, and MalaCards database to obtain disease-related targets.

Background: High visit-to-visit blood pressure variability (BPV) and hypertension are risk factors for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and probable dementia (PD). Few articles assessed the effect of BPV on the MCI and PD in intensive blood pressure treatment and the different functions of three types of visit-to-visit BPV: systolic blood pressure variability (SBPV), diastolic blood pressure variability (DBPV) and pulse pressure variability (PPV).

Methods: We performed a analysis of the SPRINT MIND trial.

Background Frailty and cognitive impairment are common in the elderly, with various shared risk factors like hypertension. Frailty is a marker for future cognitive function. Moreover, whether intensive blood pressure interacted with frailty and cognitive impairment is unknown.

Purpose: As transanal total mesorectal excision (taTME) is performed worldwide, the optimization of existing training and guidance programs to enhance new taTME learners' competence in performing this procedure is warranted. This study aimed to evaluate the taTME learning curve in patients with mid-low rectal cancer.

Methods: Patients who underwent taTME for mid-low rectal cancer between October 2015 and August 2021 at a single center were included.

Article Synopsis
  • The Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT) found that strict blood pressure control can lower the risk of cardiovascular issues without causing more instances of orthostatic hypotension.
  • A post hoc analysis of SPRINT data examined 9,329 patients and discovered a U-shaped relationship between changes in orthostatic blood pressure and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE).
  • The study concluded that increases in orthostatic diastolic blood pressure and decreases in systolic blood pressure correlate with a greater risk of MACE, while the benefits of intense blood pressure management were consistent across different levels of orthostatic BP changes.

Background: Frailty was found to be common in patients with atrial fibrillation/flutter (AF), but there was still a lack of evidence regarding the relationship between frailty and new-onset AF.

Methods: We performed a analysis of data from the Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT). In addition, we evaluated the relationship between baseline frailty status and new-onset AF in older adult patients with hypertension.

Poor cognitive function can predict poor clinical outcomes. Intensive blood pressure control can reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and all-cause mortality. In this study, we assessed whether intensive blood pressure control in older patients can reduce the risk of stroke, composite cardiovascular outcomes and all-cause mortality for participants in the Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT) with lower or higher cognitive function based on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) cut-off scores.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of combination of angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) with hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) compared to ARB alone in patients with uncontrolled hypertension via a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Methods: We searched databases till July 2019 using relevant search terms. We included articles that were randomised controlled trials (RCTs) comparing ARB/HCTZ with ARB for a duration of at least 4 weeks and reported on the efficacy or safety.

Objective: To investigate molding technology of total alkaloids from Sophora alopecuroides freeze-dried powders and observe its inhibition effects on liver transplantation tumor in mice.

Method: With color, clarity, water-soluble and formability as indexes, single factor tests were adopted to screen type and amount of filler, the concentration of total alkaloids in drug liquid, pH in order to determine optimum prescription of total alkaloids from S. alopecuroides freeze-dried powders, the lowest melting point was determined and freeze drying curve was drafted.
