A review on recent advances in polymeric microneedle loading cells: Design strategies, fabrication technologies, transdermal application and challenges.

Microneedle systems (MNs) loading living cells are a powerful platform to treat various previously incurable diseases in the era of precision medicine. Herein, an overview of recent advances in MN-based strategies for cell delivery is summarized, including material selection, design of morphological structures, and processing methods. We also systematically outlined the law of microstructural design relative to the structure-effective/function relationship in transdermal delivery or precision medicine and the design principles of cell microneedle (CMN).

Metastasis is the leading cause of mortality from esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). By the time of diagnosis, most ESCC tumors have already invaded the lymph nodes or distant organs; however, it has been challenging to identify and confirm genes with a crucial role in ESCC metastasis. The microfibrillar-associated protein 2 (MFAP2) is upregulated in human ESCC, and its expression level was positively associated with poor overall and disease-free survival.

Enhanced propionate degradation and CO electromethanogenesis in an up-flow dual-chamber electrocatalytic anaerobic bioreactor (UF-DC-EAB): Leveraging DIET-mediated syntrophy for microbial stability.

Anaerobic digestion faces numerous challenges, including high CO content in biogas and volatile fatty acids (such as propionate) accumulation in digestate. To address these issues, an up-flow dual-chamber electrocatalytic anaerobic bioreactor (UF-DC-EAB) was developed to enhance propionate degradation through microbial symbiosis while improving biogas quality via CO electromethanogenesis. Under the extreme conditions with propionate as the primary carbon source at 6-h HRT, the UF-DC-EAB achieved a propionate removal efficiency of 72.

12-Lipoxygenase inhibition delays onset of autoimmune diabetes in human gene replacement mice.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is characterized by the autoimmune destruction of insulin-producing β cells and involves an interplay between β cells and cells of the innate and adaptive immune systems. We investigated the therapeutic potential of targeting 12-lipoxygenase (12-LOX), an enzyme implicated in inflammatory pathways in β cells and macrophages, using a mouse model in which the endogenous mouse Alox15 gene is replaced by the human ALOX12 gene. Our finding demonstrated that VLX-1005, a potent 12-LOX inhibitor, effectively delayed the onset of autoimmune diabetes in human gene replacement non-obese diabetic mice.

Due to the inherent variability in EEG signals across different individuals, domain adaptation and adversarial learning strategies are being progressively utilized to develop subject-specific classification models by leveraging data from other subjects. These approaches primarily focus on domain alignment and tend to overlook the critical task-specific class boundaries. Introduction: The study has investigated the lived experience of flautists, focusing on their experiences and perceptions of performance-related physical discomfort, injury and related mental health challenges that they might have encountered in practice and performance. The aims of the research have been to provide flautists with an opportunity to reflect on any physical or psychological performance issues in their own words, and to understand the subjective meaning of these experiences.

Methods: A basic qualitative approach was used for gathering data.

The mediating role of surface and deep acting and the moderating effect of occupational identity in workplace violence and sleep quality among psychiatric nurses: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Psychiatric nurses often encounter patients with mental health disorders and consequently experience prolonged periods of high stress, increased workload, and frequent incidents of workplace violence. These aspects can lead to a higher incidence of poor sleep quality. This study examined the interplay between workplace violence and emotional labour (surface and deep acting) to suggest measures for enhancing sleep quality among psychiatric nurses.
