Microplastics (MPs) have been found to interfere with the gut microbiota and compromise the integrity of the gut barrier. Excessive exposure to MPs markedly elevates the risk of cardiovascular disease, yet their influence on hypertension remains elusive, calling for investigation into their potential impacts on blood pressure (BP) regulation. In the present study, an increase in the concentration of MPs was observed in the fecal samples of individuals suffering from hypertension, as compared to the controls.

Hypoxic preconditioning can augment their functionality. However, the optimal conditions for hypoxic preconditioning and the specific mechanisms by which it exerts its effects are not well defined.

To address this shortcoming, we conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study, combined with metabolomics techniques, to elucidate the causality between 486 genetically predicted blood metabolites and GC.
Methods: MR analysis and metabolomics techniques such as ultra-high performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) and gas chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) technologies were employed to assess the causality of 486 genetically predicted blood metabolites on the risk of GC.

Achilles tendon injuries, as a widely existing disease, have attracted a lot of research interest. Mueller matrix polarimetry, as a novel label-free quantitative imaging method, has been widely used in various applications of lesion identification and pathological diagnosis. However, focusing on the recovery process of Achilles tendon injuries, current optical imaging methods have not yet achieved the label-free precise identification and quantitative evaluation.

Elabela, a recently identified peptide, has emerged as a significant player in the regulation of cardiovascular function and homeostasis. However, the effects and underlying mechanisms of Elabela on age-related vascular calcification remain largely unexplored.

Four weeks after the polyvinyl alcohol-polyacrylamide hydrogel was implanted into the C5 vertebral canal, asymptomatic rats were selected based on locomotor function score. Mild cervical SCI was subsequently established based on CSCC.

However, the exact role of sirtuin 7 (SIRT7) in myocardial remodeling remains largely unclear. Here, spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) and angiotensin (Ang) II-induced hypertensive mice were pretreated with recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV)-SIRT7, copper chelator tetrathiomolybdate (TTM) or copper ionophore elesclomol, respectively.

To observe changes and discrepancies in the flexion-extension centers of rotation (FE-COR) of different ACDR segments.
Methods: Twenty-four patients undergoing 2-level (C4/5 and C5/6) ACDR were analyzed retrospectively (11 patients in the Mobi-C group and 13 patients in the Bryan group).
A concise synthesis of aryl enol ethers from allylic alcohols and arylsulfonium salts by simply using an inorganic base as a mediator is described. The reaction enabled the facile conversion of various α-aryl allylic alcohols into the corresponding aryl enol ethers in good yields with excellent selectivity. The results demonstrated that both symmetric triarylsulfonium triflate and 10-methyl-5-aryl-5,10-dihydrophenothiazin-5-ium salts were effective arylation reagents for the base-initiated selective -arylation and isomerization of α-aryl allylic alcohols.

The vast demand for data and consumption of computational resources are making independent drug discovery increasingly difficult. By integrating federated learning technology into the drug discovery field, we have found a solution that both protects privacy and shares computational power.

Within the Poincaré sphere system, this study achieves a spatial representation of the Mueller matrix: the Global-Polarization Stokes Ellipsoid (GPSE). With the help of Monte Carlo simulations combined with anisotropic tissue models, three basic characteristic parameters of GPSE are proposed and explained, where the V parameter represents polarization maintenance ability, and the E and D parameters represent the degree of anisotropy.

Here, a BaTiO-FeCoNi alloy (BTO-FCN) system featuring an ultrathin ternary FCN alloy nanopillar array embedded in the BTO matrix has been developed with tailorable nanopillar size and interpillar distance. The magnetic alloy nanopillars combined with a ferroelectric oxide matrix present intriguing multifunctionality and coupling properties.

However, whether and how stroke induces sustained pro-inflammatory and proatherogenic endothelial alterations in systemic vessels remain poorly understood. We showed that brain ischemia induces persistent activation, the upregulation of adhesion molecule VCAM1, and increased senescence in peripheral ECs until 4 weeks after stroke onset.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the patients who underwent dynamic pedicle screw fixation with PEEK rods from March 2017 to June 2022. Data on age, sex, body mass index, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia history, long-term smoking, alcohol consumption, VBQ score, L1-4 average Hounsfield unit (HU) value, surgical fixation length, and the lowest instrumented vertebra were collected.

The evidence for sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) in the treatment of type 2 diabetes or chronic heart failure was sufficient but lacking in acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Our aim was to investigate the effects of SGLT2i on cardiovascular outcomes in ACS patients. Studies of SGLT2i selection in ACS patients were searched and pooled.

In order to completely record the object spectrum with a single shot, we proposed a colorful complementary illumination method in the recording process. The angle of this illumination mode is not symmetrical with each other, so the spectrum between the three channels can complement each other to avoid spectrum loss caused by spectrum conjugation.

Developing reliable and interpretable computational imaging methods for restoring smoke-affected surgical images is crucial, as typical image restoration methods relying on color-texture information are insufficient. Here a computational polarization imaging method through surgical smoke is demonstrated, including a refined polarization difference estimation based on the discrete electric field direction, and a corresponding prior-based estimation method, for better parameter estimation and image restoration performance.
