Article Synopsis
  • * Barrier structures can reduce dark current in these devices without significantly harming their optical performance, making them suitable for extreme environments.
  • * The research shows that 1 MeV electron irradiation causes serious damage to InAs/GaSb type II superlattice LWIR detectors, leading to greatly increased dark current and decreased quantum efficiency, primarily due to defect states created by the radiation.

A novel synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonist (SCRA), ADMB-FUBIATA, featuring an acetamide-linked structure, has emerged on the illicit drug market. To provide dependable verification of its consumption and identify reliable biomarkers, we investigated an in vitro metabolism study of ADMB-FUBIATA incubated with human primary hepatocytes (HPHs) for the first time and correlated our findings with those from human liver microsomes (HLMs). In this work, ADMB-FUBIATA (10 μM) was incubated with HLM and HPH for 1 and 5 h, respectively, and then subjected to LC-quadrupole-orbitrap MS.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are potential biomarkers for cancer diagnosis and prognosis, methods for detecting miRNAs with high sensitivity, selectivity, and stability are urgently needed. Various nucleic acid probes that have traditionally been for this purpose suffer several drawbacks, including inefficient signal-to-noise ratios and intensities, high cost, and time-consuming method establishment. Computing tools used for investigating the thermodynamics of DNA hybridization reactions can accurately predict the secondary structure of DNA and the interactions between DNA molecules.

Article Synopsis
  • * The research introduces a new enzyme-free detection method called CHAzymi, which uses DNAzyme and catalytic hairpin assembly for both in vitro and in situ miRNA detection, particularly focusing on miR-146b, a marker for papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).
  • * This system allows for quantitative detection of miR-146b and has been tested on human PTC cell lines and patient samples, indicating its potential as a novel diagnostic tool that could enhance miRNA detection and treatment strategies in a clinical context.

Excessive smartphone use has become a growing issue among adolescents as they develop mentally and socially. While researchers have examined individual and technological predictors of smartphone addiction, few studies consider broader societal influences. This study explored how social pressures such as mimicry, coercion, and norms impact persistent conscious smartphone use (use stickiness) and unconscious smartphone use (use habit).

GC is a gastrointestinal tumor with high morbidity and mortality. Owing to the high rate of postoperative recurrence associated with GC, the effectiveness of radiotherapy and chemotherapy may be compromised by the occurrence of severe undesirable side effects. In light of these circumstances, KP, a flavonoid abundantly present in diverse herbal and fruit sources, emerges as a promising therapeutic agent with inherent anti-tumor properties.

Inflammation is a fundamental defensive response to harmful stimuli, but the overactivation of inflammatory responses is associated with most human diseases. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are a class of chemicals that are generated after the incomplete reduction of molecular oxygen. At moderate levels, ROS function as critical signaling molecules in the modulation of various physiological functions, including inflammatory responses.

Objective: Combined fractures of the lateral condyle of the humerus and the ipsilateral ulnar olecranon are rarely seen in children. Therefore, the mechanism and suitable treatments remain debatable. This study describes the possible mechanism of combined humeral lateral condyle and ipsilateral ulnar olecranon fractures and presents the treatment results.

A novel ligation-based loop-mediated isothermal amplification has been developed for miRNA detection. Two stem-loop structure DNA linker A/B probes which hybridized with miRNA were designed to establish a rapid and ultrasensitive miRNA-LAMP system for miRNA detection. Target miR-200a was used to template the ligation of Linker A/B probes with SplintR Ligase and used as a dumbbell-shaped amplicon.

The objective of this study is to develop a gene signature related to the immune system that can be used to create personalized immunotherapy for Uterine Corpus Endometrial Carcinoma (UCEC). To classify the UCEC samples into different immune clusters, we utilized consensus clustering analysis. Additionally, immune correlation algorithms were employed to investigate the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) in diverse clusters.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the key genes, metabolites, and pathways that influence periodontitis pathogenesis by integrating transcriptomic and metabolomic studies.

Design: Gingival crevicular fluid samples from periodontitis patients and healthy controls were collected for liquid chromatography/tandem mass-based metabolomics. RNA-seq data for periodontitis and control samples were obtained from the GSE16134 dataset.

Cellular senescence plays important roles in age-related diseases, including musculoskeletal disorders. Senescent cells (SCs) exert a senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) by producing SASP factors, some of which overlap with factors produced by inflammatory cells (Inf-Cs). However, the differences between SCs and Inf-Cs and how they interact with each other during fracture repair have not been well studied.

Background: Supracondylar humeral fractures (SHF) are the most common type of fracture occurring at the distal humerus in children. In patients with delayed presentation of SHF, closed reduction is challenging to achieve with traditional reduction maneuvers. This study aimed to report the clinical results of pediatric SHF delayed over 14 days treated by closed reduction with a minimally invasive technique and external fixation and evaluate the efficacy of this technique.
