Black odorous water concentrating by forward osmosis: rejection performance of characteristic pollutants based on cation exchange.

This study aimed to investigate pollutant concentration and nitrogen interception characteristics of a forward osmosis (FO) process for concentrating black odorous water. The membrane cell was operated in active layer facing feed solution (AL-FS) mode with aquaporin (AQP) as the membrane material and NaCl solution as the draw solution (DS). The organic pollutants (COD), TP, NH+4-N, NO-3-N, TN, Fe and Mn in black odorous water were concentrated non-intermittently for 24 h, and their interception characteristics were investigated.

Characteristics of the extracellular products of pure oxygen aerated activated sludge in batch mode.

The effects of pure oxygen aeration on compositional characteristics of soluble microbial products (SMP) and extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) of the activated sludge acclimated in a sequential batch reactor (SBR) were explored in batch mode. The structure of the extracellular products would change with different aeration methods or aeration rates. The proportion of SMP of most oxygen aerated sludge was less than 10%, while that in air aerated sludge was as high as 30-40%.

Effectiveness of contrast-enhanced ultrasound and serum liver enzyme measurement in detection and classification of blunt liver trauma.

Objective This study was performed to identify the correlation between contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and contrast-enhanced multidetector computed tomography (CE-MDCT) as well as the correlation between serum liver enzyme concentrations and CE-MDCT in classification of the severity of blunt hepatic trauma using CE-MDCT as a reference standard. Materials and methods A blunt liver trauma model was created using 20 rabbits, and CE-MDCT, CEUS, and serum liver enzyme assays were performed. A radiologist and an ultrasound physician independently evaluated the degree of liver trauma.

[Acupoint injection of kakkonein for early- or mid-stage Parkinson's disease: a multicenter randomized controlled clinical trial].

Objective: To investigate short- and long-term benefits and safety of acupoint injection of kakkonein for early- or mid-stage Parkinson's disease (PD).

Methods: A total of 135 patients with early- or mid-stage PD were enlisted and 116 cases completed the observation, including 40 cases in the acupoint-injection group, 37 cases in the acupuncture group and 39 cases in the medication group. Patients of the acupoint-injection group were treated by injection of kakkonein (2 mL) into bilateral Fengchi (GB 20), once very other day for 8 weeks.

[A randomized controlled trials on treatment of cervicogenic sudden hearing loss with chiropractic].

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect and safety of chiropractic in treating cervicogenic sudden hearing loss.

Methods: From January 2011 to October 2013, 90 patients with cervicogenic sudden hearing loss were randomly divided into treatment group and control group according to the random number table produced by SPSS 19.0 software.

Methods: HBV-DNA levels in serum and breast milk were detected by FQ-PCR in 152 postpartum women infected with HBV, and HBV-DNA ≥ 1.0 × 10(3) U/ml was defined as HBV positive.
