Objective: The incidence of vertebral fragile fractures peaked among the elderly population, and identifying individuals at high risk of vertebral fractures and promptly instituting preventions are of critical importance. This study aims to determine the efficacy and values of Hounsfield unit (HU) values, vertebral bone quality (VBQ) scores, bone mineral density (BMD) measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), and quantitative computed tomography (QCT) to discriminate between patients with and without vertebral fractures.
Methods: A thorough search was conducted across PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, and Wan Fang Database to identify potential studies that met the eligibility criteria.
Epidemiological studies and a recent Mendelian randomization (MR) study have identified an association between low bone mass and an increased risk of scoliosis. Previous research suggests that bone loss in patients with scoliosis may be related to the RANK-RANKL-OPG system. This study is to investigate whether a causal relationship exists between the RANK-RANKL-OPG system and the development of scoliosis.

Terrestrial ecosystems represent the most direct and principal reservoirs of plastic contamination on Earth. The toxic effects of microplastic exposure on terrestrial plants have been analyzed from the perspectives of direct toxicity, indirect toxicity, and combined toxicity with other pollutants. By investigating the impacts on the growth, behavior, and oxidative stress responses of soil animals, the toxicological patterns of microplastics have been elucidated.

In this paper, chiral aryl iodides were used for the first time to catalyze the formation of C-O and C-N bonds of inactive olefins to obtain optically active aminolactone derivatives. The reaction is compatible with various substituted alkenyl carboxylic acid substrates. This method usually shows high activity and enantioselectivity, with a yield of up to 83% and an ee of up to 99%.

However, the optimal caloric intake target during the acute phase of AE remains unclear.
Objective: This study aims to evaluate the impact of caloric intake on short-term clinical outcomes in AE patients, specifically focusing on the improvement in Clinical Assessment Scale for Autoimmune Encephalitis (CASE) scores, to provide recommendations for nutritional support during the acute phase.
Translational pharmacological research on traditional medicines lays the foundation for precisely understanding how the medicines function in the body to deliver therapeutic benefits. Borneolum syntheticum (Bingpian) is commonly used in Chinese herbal medicines for coronary heart disease, but its specific cardiovascular impact remains poorly understood. Isoborneol, a constituent of Bingpian, has been found to reduce lipid accumulation in macrophages in vitro, but its oral bioavailability is limited.

The main objective of this review is to evaluate the potential of emerging biomarkers for early diagnosis and accurate prognosis in sepsis management, which are pivotal for enhancing patient outcomes. Despite advances in supportive care, traditional biomarkers like C-reactive protein and procalcitonin have limitations, and recent studies have identified novel biomarkers with increased sensitivity and specificity, including circular RNAs, HOXA distal transcript antisense RNA, microRNA-486-5p, protein C, triiodothyronine, and prokineticin 2.

However, most self-assemblies with non-covalent bonding interactions are susceptible to complex physiological environments, leading to weak stability and loss of biological function. Here, we develop a coupling-induced assembly (CIA) strategy to generate covalently crosslinked nanofibers, which is applied for in situ constructing artificial shell on mitochondria.

However, there is no precedent example of atomically precise Ag cluster-POM assemblies showing heterojunction effects in photocatalysis. Herein, the synthesis and total structure determination of the periodically distributed molecular heterojunction [Ag(SCy)(CHCN)(PWO)] (Ag-PW) are reported.

However, its value has been ignored, resulting in environmental pollution and resource waste. In this study, UHPLC-Q-Exactive-MS/MS liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and multivariate statistical analysis were conducted to characterize the compositional features of the repeated thermal-treated SGW.

By introducing an electro-optically tunable waveguide coupler, the bus waveguide to the resonance coupling can be effectively tuned from the under-coupling regime to the over-coupling regime. The optical delay is experimentally characterized by measuring the relative phase shift between lasers and shows a large dynamic range of delay from -600 to 600 ps and an efficient tuning of delay from -430 to -180 ps and from 40 to 240 ps by only a 5 V voltage.

This paper reviewed the clinical and basic studies on the synergism of chemotherapy with acupuncture and moxibustion in recent years. It was found that chemotherapy synergized with acupuncture and moxibustion can suppress cancer to a certain extent and improve the quality of life in patients.

Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), a common mycotoxin, can occur in agricultural products. As a metabolite of AFB1, aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) mainly exist in dairy products. These two mycotoxins threaten human health, although it is unclear how they affect the function of the intestinal barrier.

It is attributed to abundant tumoral vasculature with abnormal structure limiting effector T cell infiltration and drug penetration. We propose a bispecific fibrous glue (BFG) to regulate tumor immune and vascular microenvironments simultaneously.

Background: Bone metastases are rare in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). It has not been defined on the risk and prognosis of OSCC patients with bone metastases. The purpose of this study was to assess the factors associated with the development and prognosis of bone metastases among OSCC patients.

This article proposes an improved model RTC_TongueNet based on DeepLabV3, which combines the improved residual structure and transformer and integrates the ECA (Efficient Channel Attention Module) attention mechanism of multiscale atrous convolution to improve the effect of tongue image segmentation.
Methods: In this paper, we improve the backbone network based on DeepLabV3 by incorporating the transformer structure and an improved residual structure.

We investigated the changes of soil nutrients and plant communities in the artificial sand fixation forests of with different ages. The results showed that soil organic carbon and soil total nitrogen contents increased with the stand ages, and were significantly higher in 40 and 50 year-old than other ages. Soil organic carbon and total nitrogen contents recovered much faster in the surface layer (0-10 cm) than in others.
