Article Synopsis
  • Cervical spondylosis (CS) is a common condition that affects life quality, with limited effectiveness from traditional treatments; electroacupuncture (EA) is being explored as a new treatment option.
  • In a study using a rat model of cervical intervertebral disk degeneration (CIDD), EA showed potential by altering the IL-22/JAK2-STAT3 signaling pathway, which plays a key role in the health of nucleus pulposus (NP) cells.
  • Results indicated that EA significantly reduced cell apoptosis and inflammation in NP tissues by modulating various cytokines and proteins linked to inflammation, suggesting a promising therapeutic effect for managing CS.

Background: Health belief is an important factor affecting lung cancer screening in high-risk population, but the research based on Chinese cultural background is still insufficient. Therefore, we adapted the English version of the Lung Cancer Screening Health Belief Scales (LCSHB) into the Chinese version (LCSHB-C) and examined its psychometric characteristics.

Methods: After obtaining authorization from the original author, the LCSHB-C was adapted based upon Brislin's translation model.

Purpose: Systemic inflammatory response is a critical factor that promotes the initiation and metastasis of malignancies including pancreatic cancer (PC). This study was designed to determine and compare the prognostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR) in resectable PC and locally advanced or metastatic PC.

Materials And Methods: Three hundred fifty-three patients with resectable PC and 807 patients with locally advan-ced or metastatic PC were recruited in this study.

Objective: To evaluate the significance of fibrinogen and albumin (FA) score based on preoperative peripheral blood plasma fibrinogen and serum albumin in the prognosis of patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC).

Methods: Patients' clinicopathological data of 186 cases of EOC were retrospectively collected, and these patients were divided into three groups according to their FA scores (both plasma fibrinogen and serum albumin abnormal were allocated a score of 2; one of them abnormal were allocated a score of 1; neither of them abnormal were allocated a score of 0; optimal cut-off point is taken as the critical point whether the value is abnormal or not). Correlation between FA score in patients with EOC as well as clinicopathological features and overall survival (OS) was analyzed.

NAC transcription factors have been found to play important roles in plant development and responses to environmental stresses. Based on two cDNA libraries constructed from the PEG-treated and -nontreated seedling leaves of chickpea, a NAC gene, CarNAC3, was isolated and characterized. The results indicated that CarNAC3 contained 285 amino acids and had a conserved NAC domain.
