We explore the FeRh magnetic phase transition (MPT) and magnetic phase domain (MPD) with the introduction of surface acoustic waves (SAWs). The effects of the SAW pulses with different pulse widths and powers on resistance-temperature loops are investigated, revealing that the SAW can reduce the thermal hysteresis. Meanwhile, the SAW-induced comb-like antiferromagnetic (AFM) phase domains are observed.

Novel components in the noncanonical Hippo pathway that mediate the growth, metastasis, and drug resistance of breast cancer (BC) cells need to be identified. Here, we showed that expression of SAM and SH3 domain-containing protein 1 (SASH1) is negatively correlated with expression of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase kinase 4 (MAP4K4) in a subpopulation of patients with luminal-subtype BC. Downregulated SASH1 and upregulated MAP4K4 synergistically regulated the proliferation, migration, and invasion of luminal-subtype BC cells.

Lysine crotonylation (Kcr), a newly discovered post-translational modification, played a crucial role in physiology and disease progression. However, the roles of crotonylation in oocyte meiotic resumption remain elusive. As abnormal cumulus cell development will cause oocyte maturation arrest and female infertility, we report that cumulus cells surrounding human meiotic arrested oocytes showed significantly lower crotonylation, which was associated with decreased EP300 expression and blocked cumulus cell expansion.

Amorphous high-entropy alloys (HEAs) as electromagnetic-wave absorbing materials have been rarely reported. In this work, amorphous FeCoNiTiSi HEAs were synthesized by introducing a high content of large-atom Ti using the high-energy ball-milling technique. This amorphous structure could improve the saturated magnetization and coercivity of HEAs, but slightly degraded the mechanical and oxidation resistance properties.

Ethanol is an important risk factor for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC); however, the molecular mechanisms behind how ethanol promotes ESCC development remain poorly understood. In this study, ethanol-ESCC-associated target genes were constructed and screened using network pharmacology and subjected to Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and bioinformatics analysis. A mouse ethanol-exposed esophageal cancer model was constructed with 4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide (4-NQO) to assess its survival and tumor lesion status, and the mechanism of ethanol-promoted ESCC lesions was verified by qRT-PCR and Western blotting.

The combined use of transcriptome and translatome as indicators of gene expression profiles is usually more accurate than the use of transcriptomes alone, especially in cell types governed by translational regulation, such as mammalian oocytes. Here, we developed a dual-omics methodology that includes both transcriptome and translatome sequencing (T&T-seq) of single-cell oocyte samples, and we used it to characterize the transcriptomes and translatomes during mouse and human oocyte maturation. T&T-seq analysis revealed distinct translational expression patterns between mouse and human oocytes and delineated a sequential gene expression regulation from the cytoplasm to the nucleus during human oocyte maturation.

Humans have developed the capacity to rapidly extract summary statistics from the facial expressions of a crowd, such as computing the average facial expression. Although dual-task paradigms involving memory and ensemble tasks have recently found that this ensemble coding ability is biased by visual working memory, few studies have examined whether the context-dependent nature of memory itself can influence the perceptual averaging process.
