We have investigated the internal structure of the open- and hidden-charmed (DD/D¯D) molecules in the unified framework. We first fit the experimental lineshape of the T state and extract the DD interaction, from which the T is assumed to arise solely. Then we obtain the DD¯ interaction by charge conjugation.

Background: Targeting immunogenic cell death (ICD) is considered a promising therapeutic strategy for cancer. However, the commonly identified ICD inducers promote the expression of programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) in tumor cells, thus aiding them to evade the recognition and killing by the immune system. Therefore, the finding of novel ICD inducers to avoid enhanced PD-L1 expression is of vital significance for cancer therapy.

Homocysteine (Hcy) is an independent and serious risk factor for dementia, including Alzheimer's disease (AD), but the precise mechanisms are still poorly understood. In the current study, we observed that the permissive histone mark trimethyl histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4me3) and its methyltransferase KMT2B were significantly elevated in hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) rats, with impairment of synaptic plasticity and cognitive function. Further research found that histone methylation inhibited synapse-associated protein expression, by suppressing histone acetylation.

Growing evidence suggests that macroautophagy/autophagy-lysosomal pathway deficits contribute to the accumulation of amyloid-β (Aβ) in Alzheimer disease (AD). Aerobic exercise (AE) has long been investigated as an approach to delay and treat AD, although the exact role and mechanism are not well known. Here, we revealed that AE could reverse autophagy-lysosomal deficits via activation of ADRB2/β2-adrenergic receptor, leading to significant attenuation of amyloid-β pathology in APP-PSEN1/PS1 mice.

Article Synopsis
  • Thymoma is the most common tumor found in the front part of the chest, and this study focused on identifying prognostic factors for patients who underwent surgery to remove the tumor.
  • The research involved 137 patients and tracked their recovery, determining that 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) was 79.5% and overall survival (OS) was 88.4%.
  • Key findings indicated that smoking and tumor size impact PFS, while high neutrophil levels are crucial for determining OS; a nomogram was created to help predict patient outcomes based on these factors.

Background: The systematic molecular associations between the peripheral blood cells and brain in Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains unclear, which hinders our understanding of AD pathological mechanisms and the exploration of new diagnostic biomarkers.

Methods: Here, we performed an integrated analysis of the brain and peripheral blood cells transcriptomics to establish peripheral biomarkers of AD. By employing multiple statistical analyses plus machine learning, we identified and validated multiple regulated central and peripheral network in patients with AD.

  • The study investigates the outcomes of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) compared to those without ESKD, focusing on rates of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) during CPR.* -
  • Results showed that ESKD patients had significantly higher rates of "any" and "sustained" ROSC and exhibited lower potassium levels and milder acidosis than non-ESKD patients during resuscitation.* -
  • Findings suggest ESKD patients can achieve comparable hospital survival rates to non-ESKD patients, challenging existing beliefs that these patients are always at high risk for complications like hyperkalemia and acidosis.*

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Danggui Buxue decoction (DBD) is a classic herbal decoction consisting of Astragali Radix (AR) and Angelica Sinensis Radix (ASR) with a 5:1 wt ratio, which can supplement 'blood' and 'qi' (vital energy) for the treatment of clinical diseases. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory, dementia is induced by Blood deficiency and Qi weakness, which causes a decline in cognition. However, the underlying mechanisms of DBD improving cognition deficits in neurodegenerative disease are no clear.

  • Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) on long-term hemodialysis (HD) face a higher risk of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) but may have better chances of recovering spontaneous circulation (ROSC) compared to non-ESRD patients.
  • A study using data from Taiwan analyzed over 100,000 ESRD and matched non-ESRD patients, revealing that ESRD patients had a 2.11 times higher risk of OHCA but were 2.47 times more likely to achieve ROSC.
  • Additionally, survival rates after ROSC were found to be better for ESRD patients, suggesting that their prolonged exposure to toxins and regular HD may improve their vascular response and outcomes post-arrest

A novel framework is proposed to extract near-threshold resonant states from finite-volume energy levels of lattice QCD and is applied to elucidate structures of the positive parity D_{s}. The quark model, the quark-pair-creation mechanism and D^{(*)}K interaction are incorporated into the Hamiltonian effective field theory. The bare 1^{+} cs[over ¯] states are almost purely given by the states with heavy-quark spin bases.
