Article Synopsis
  • Exercise has been shown to help reduce neuropathic pain (NP) through various mechanisms, including inflammation and neurochemical changes.
  • Neuroglia, which are cells that support and maintain neurons, play a significant role in the development of NP and can be influenced by exercise.
  • The article aims to provide insights into how understanding neuroglia’s role can inform effective exercise treatment strategies for managing NP.

Exercise can help inhibition of neuropathic pain (NP), but the related mechanism remains being explored. In this research, we performed the effect of swimming exercise on the chronic constriction injury (CCI) rats. Compared with CCI group, the mechanical withdrawal threshold of rats in the CCI-Swim group significantly increased on the 21st and 28th day after CCI surgery.

Neuropathic pain (NP) is poorly managed, and in-depth mechanisms of gene transcriptome alterations in NP pathogenesis are not yet fully understood. To determine microRNA-related molecular mechanisms of NP and their transcriptional regulation in NP, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and CINAHL Complete (EBSCO) were searched from inception to April 2021. Commonly dysregulated miRNAs in NP were assessed.

Importance: Therapeutic aquatic exercise is frequently offered to patients with chronic low back pain, but its long-term benefits are unclear.

Objective: To assess the long-term effects of therapeutic aquatic exercise on people with chronic low back pain.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This 3-month, single-blind randomized clinical trial with a 12-month follow-up period was performed from September 10, 2018, to March 12, 2019, and the trial follow-up was completed March 17, 2020.

Neuropathic pain (NP), a severe and disruptive symptom following many diseases, normally restricts patients' physical functions and leads to anxiety and depression. As an economical and effective therapy, exercise may be helpful in NP management. However, few guidelines and reviews focused on exercise therapy for NP associated with specific diseases.

Neuropathic pain (NP) results from a lesion or disease of the nervous system and accompanied by chronic pain, leading a serious public health issue and economic burden. In terms of the NP mechanisms remaining poorly understood, circular RNAs (circRNAs), owing to their high stability and evolutionary conservation, are expected to be used as potential therapeutic targets or diagnostic biomarkers. In this review, we concisely discuss the characteristics and biological functions of circRNAs.

Musculoskeletal degenerative diseases (MSDDs) are pathological conditions that affect muscle, bone, cartilage, joint and connective tissue, leading to physical and functional impairments in patients, mainly consist of osteoarthritis (OA), intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD), rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and circular RNAs (circRNAs) are novel regulators of gene expression that play an important role in biological regulation, involving in chondrocyte proliferation and apoptosis, extracellular matrix degradation and peripheral blood mononuclear cell inflammation. Research on MSDD pathogenesis, especially on RA and AS, is still in its infancy and major knowledge gaps remain to be filled.

There is accumulating evidence showing that exercise therapy may play an active role in peripheral neuropathic pain (NP), but its mechanism is still unclear. Studies have found that microRNAs (miRNAs) may play a role in NP by regulating pain-related target genes. Therefore, we aimed to explore the changes of miRNA and mRNA of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) after NP in response to exercise with transcriptome technology.

Article Synopsis
  • Up to 90% of the human genome produces Long-noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) that, while not coding for proteins, are crucial for various biological processes; their dysregulation is linked to many complex diseases.
  • A bibliometric analysis of the influential academic contributions in lncRNAs research, focusing on authors, journals, countries, and institutions, is needed as previous studies on the top 100 most-cited papers were lacking.
  • This study aims to identify key trends in lncRNAs literature, helping researchers understand impactful studies and fostering future collaborations in the field.

There is accumulating evidence showing that exercise therapy may play an active role in peripheral neuropathic pain (NP). However, there have been no meta-analysis to investigate the effects of exercise on NP induced by peripheral nerve injury in rat models. PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science were searched from inception to January 2019.

The molecular mechanisms underlying neuropathic pain (NP) remain poorly understood. Emerging evidence has suggested the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in the initiation and development of NP, but the specific effects of miRNAs in NP are largely unknown. Here, we use network- and pathway-based methods to investigate NP-induced miRNA changes and their biological functions by conducting a systematic search through multiple electronic databases.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to compare the effectiveness and safety of surgical versus non-operative treatments for patients with lumbar disc herniation, focusing on pain, function, and quality of life outcomes.
  • - 19 randomized controlled trials with 2272 participants were analyzed, showing that surgical treatment significantly reduced pain and improved physical function and quality of life compared to non-operative treatment.
  • - However, there was no significant difference in adverse events between the two treatment options, leading to a conclusion that while surgery appears more effective, the evidence is considered low-quality and firm recommendations cannot be made.
