In this article, we propose a new graph neural network (GNN) explainability model, CiRLExplainer, which elucidates GNN predictions from a causal attribution perspective. Initially, a causal graph is constructed to analyze the causal relationships between the graph structure and GNN predicted values, identifying node attributes as confounding factors between the two. Subsequently, a backdoor adjustment strategy is employed to circumvent these confounders.

Heart failure is a common adverse event among patients who undergo peritoneal dialysis treatment, especially for those who undergo continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis at home, because of the lack of professional input-output volume monitoring and management during treatment.
Objective: This study aims to develop novel mobile health (mHealth) tools to improve the quality of home-based continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis treatment and to build a prediction model of heart failure based on the system's daily treatment monitoring data.
Backgrounds: Financial toxicity (FT) refers to the financial stress and detrimental impact on quality of life experienced by patients due to treatment costs. In patients with resected lung cancer (LC), we sought to identify those at risk of developing moderate or severe ("major") FT using machine learning (ML) techniques based on preoperative characteristics.
Study Design: Patients who underwent LC resection at a single center between January 2016 and December 2021 were surveyed to ascertain demographic information, financial data, and presence of major FT.
Notably, several factors are associated with hallux valgus (HV); however, their causal relationship remains unclear. In this study, a 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was performed to investigate the casual relationship between 9 endogenous risk factors and HV, aiming to provide a foundation for the clinical management of HV. Exposure factors such as body mass index (BMI), BMI (male), BMI (female), acquired flatfoot, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, knee osteoarthritis, hip osteoarthritis, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome were considered, with HV as the outcome.

While dihydrolipoyl transacetylase (DLAT) has been implicated in the development of various cancers, its specific role and underlying mechanisms in HCC remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate the expression, function, and mechanistic impact of DLAT in HCC.

It was to evaluate the effectiveness of acupotomy bone decompression (ABD) combined with sodium hyaluronate (SH) intra-articular injection on inflammatory responses in treating KOA.
Methods: Clinical data from 128 patients with KOA were retrospectively collected, categorized into SH group (n = 55) and ABD + SH group (n = 73).
The structural parameters and enthalpies of pure ZnSe and different concentrations of V/Mn:ZnSe at high pressures were calculated using the first principles calculation method based on density functional theory. The lattice constants and bond lengths of all the systems decrease under pressure, and the respective phase transition pressures are obtained from the enthalpy-pressure relationship curves, which show that V/Mn elemental doping reduces the phase transition pressure of ZnSe, and the phase transition pressure further decreases with the increase of the doping concentration. The doping formation energies and the elastic constant criterion at atmospheric and high pressures confirm the structural stability of all the systems within the pressures of this study, and the pugh ratio confirms that they are all ductile structures.

HSV-1 is well known for its lytic infections at the primary sites and for establishing latency in the sensory neuronal ganglia, with occasional recurrent infections. To date, there are no approved commercially available vaccines, and anti-HSV-1 drugs such as specific or non-specific nucleotide (nucleoside) analogs and helicase-primase inhibitors have become the main clinical agents for the treatment of HSV-1 infections despite challenges from resistance.

In this study, we investigated biotransformation characteristics, alteration of lipid metabolism, and mRNA expression in primary mouse hepatocytes (PMHs) following exposure to TDTBPP. After 36-h exposure in PMHs, TDTBPP exhibited a high stability potential with no statistically significant degradation trend.

This study investigates proteomics differences between soybeans and tempeh, a fermented soy product, aiming to elucidate the mechanisms that contribute to the differences in protein nutrients. Deep proteomics analysis of commercial soybean and tempeh suggests that Rhizopus fermentation promotes proteolysis, particularly targeting Asn and Phe, and thus increased neopeptide generation in tempeh samples.

Objective: The present study aimed to examine the constructs of Lazarus and Folkman's transactional theory of stress and coping for stress management in college students from a Hispanic-Serving Institution.
Complementing discourse following a February 2023 event on dietary protein needs in Southeast Asia (SEA), this symposium report summarizes the region's protein intake, while simultaneously examining the impact of dietary shift toward complementary and alternative proteins and their health implications. It highlights the importance of protein quality in dietary evaluations, optimal intake, and sustainability, advocating for environmentally conscious protein production and innovation in future foods. Discussion points, expert opinions, national nutrition data, and relevant literature, addressing protein intake and quality, their impact on human health, and various technologies for future foods production, have been included.

Most existing models distinguish the anomalies based on the Mean Squared Error (MSE), which is hard to align with human perception, resulting in discrepancies between model-detected anomalies and those recognized by humans.

In the context of molecular modeling, considerable efforts have been made to enrich molecular representations by integrating data from diverse aspects. Nevertheless, current methodologies frequently compartmentalize geometric and semantic components, resulting in a fragmented approach that impairs the holistic integration of molecular attributes.

In this study, we emphasized the pivotal role of CO in targeting the elimination of contaminants by contrasting it with conventional reactive oxygen species (ROSs) and assessing the removal of sulfamethazine (SMT). Similar to singlet oxygen (O), CO shows a preference for electron-rich organic compounds.
