Background: Steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS) are monogenic in some cases, however, there are still no clear guidelines on genetic testing in the clinical practice of SRNS in children.

Methods: Three hundred thirty-two children were diagnosed with SRNS, and all children underwent genetic testing, including gene panels and/or whole-exome/genome sequencing (WES/WGS), during treatment. We analysed the relationship between clinical manifestation and genotype, and compared different genetic testing methods' detection rates and prices.

Dissecting the genetic components that contribute to the two main subphenotypes of steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS) using genome-wide association studies (GWAS) strategy is important for understanding the disease. We conducted a multicenter cohort study (360 patients and 1835 controls) combined with a GWAS strategy to identify susceptibility variants associated with the following two subphenotypes of SSNS: steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome without relapse (SSNSWR, 181 patients) and steroid-dependent/frequent relapse nephrotic syndrome (SDNS/FRNS, 179 patients). The distribution of two single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in and was significant between SSNSWR and healthy controls, and that of two SNPs in and was significant between SDNS/FRNS and healthy controls.

Objective: To describe our experience of reducing anastomotic leakage, a problem that has not been properly solved.

Methods: Starting in January 2020, we began implementing our integrated strategy (application of an esophageal diameter-approximated slender gastric tube, preservation of the fibrous tissue around the residual esophagus and thyroid inferior pole anastomosis) in consecutive patients undergoing esophagectomy without a nasogastric tube or a nasal-jejunum feeding tube. Additionally, the blood supply at the site of the anastomosis was evaluated with a near-infrared fluorescence thoracoscope after the completion of esophagogastric anastomosis in the integrated strategy group.

This study identified the metabolic biomarkers for different clinical phases of bipolar disorder (BD) through metabolomics. BD patients were divided into three groups: patients with BD and depressive episodes (BE, = 59), patients with BD and mania/hypomania episodes (BH, = 16), patients with BD and mixed episodes (BM, = 10), and healthy controls (HC, = 10). Serum from participants was collected for metabolomic sequencing, biomarkers from each group were screened separately by partial least squares analysis, and metabolic pathways connected to the biomarkers were identified.

Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is a relatively rare and serious presentation of IgA nephropathy (IgAN) (NS-IgAN). Previous research has suggested that the pathogenesis of NS-IgAN may involve circulating immune imbalance and kidney injury; however, this has yet to be fully elucidated. To investigate the cellular and molecular status of NS-IgAN, we performed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and kidney cells from pediatric patients diagnosed with NS-IgAN by renal biopsy.

A stable and innovative composite film-modified electrode based on Dawson polyoxometalates HPMoVO (PMoV) and ionic liquid (BMIMBr)-decorated carbon nanotubes, annotated as PEI/(PMoV/BMIMBr-CNTs), has been constructed by using the layer-by-layer self-assembly (LBL) method for the determination of L-tyrosine. The combination of three active components not only offers higher conductivity to facilitate rapid electron transfer, but also avoids the accumulation of PMoV to expand the contact area and increase the reactive active sites. The modified electrode exhibits outstanding sensing performance for determination of Tyr with wide linear determination range of 5.

Objective: Bipolar disorder (BD) and major depressive disorder (MDD) are two common psychiatric disorders. Due to the overlapping clinical symptoms and the lack of objective diagnostic biomarkers, bipolar disorder (BD) is easily misdiagnosed as major depressive disorder (MDD), which in turn affects treatment decisions and prognosis. This study aimed to investigate biomarkers that could be used to differentiate BD from MDD.
