We report the practice patterns and real world clinical outcomes for patients presenting to the Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH) multidisciplinary liver clinic (MDLC). We analyzed hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC, n = 100) and biliary tract cancer (BTC, n = 76) patients evaluated at the JHH MDLC in 2019.

Measuring the phase noise of Raman lasers with an atom-based method.

Phase noise of Raman lasers is a major source of noise for a Raman-type cold atom interferometer, which is traditionally measured using the signal source analyzer. We report here an atom-based method to measure the phase noise performance between two Raman lasers. By analyzing and calibrating the system noise sources, we can characterize the contribution of phase noise from the total deviation of the relative atom population at the middle of the interference fringe.

Inhibitory effect of norharmane on NJ01 quorum sensing-mediated virulence factors and biofilm formation.

NJ01, a Gram-negative bacterium, can infect tomato leaves and cause chlorosis and wilting. The present study evaluated the quorum sensing (QS) and biofilm inhibitory effects of seven carboline compounds against NJ01 at 20 μg ml, and subsequently focused the study on norharmane as this had the best inhibitory activity. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) analysis confirmed the down-regulation of QS and biofilm related genes , , , , , , and on exposure to norharmane.

Methods: This study was approved by the institutional ethics committee and adhered to the CONSORT guidelines. Pediatric patients undergoing tonsillectomy who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria of our study were randomized into the study and control groups.

Three-dimensional (3D) zigzag-line welding seams are found extensively in the manufacturing of marine engineering equipment, heavy lifting equipment, and logistics transportation equipment. Currently, due to the large amount of calculation and poor real-time performance of 3D welding seam detection algorithms, real-time tracking of 3D zigzag-line welding seams is still a challenge especially in high-speed welding. For the abovementioned problems, we proposed a method for the extraction of the pose information of 3D zigzag-line welding seams based on laser displacement sensing and density-based clustering point cloud segmentation during robotic welding.

The first order light shift can be canceled by fixing the power ratio of the Raman beams at a specified value. We report here a new method to stabilize the power ratio of the two Raman lasers with ∼100 kHz locking bandwidth, suppressing the effect of the first order light shift.
