Background: Black individuals frequently present with resistant hypertension and disproportionately increased cardiovascular risk. We investigated the blood pressure (BP)-lowering effect of the dual endothelin receptor antagonist aprocitentan in Black individuals enrolled in the PRECISION study (Parallel-Group, Phase 3 Study with Aprocitentan in Subjects with Resistant Hypertension).
Methods: Patients with confirmed resistant hypertension were randomized to aprocitentan 12.
Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the efficacy of the nitrendipine/atenolol combination in comparison with standard-dose nitrendipine or atenolol monotherapy in reducing blood pressure (BP) and blood pressure variability (BPV) as assessed by ambulatory BP monitoring.
Methods: In a randomized, crossover trial, 32 patients (30-65 years) with grade 1 hypertension and elevated daytime reading-to-reading BPV were randomly assigned to receive either the nitrendipine/atenolol combination (10/20 mg) or standard-dose nitrendipine (10 mg) or atenolol (25 mg) monotherapy for 6 weeks, followed by a crossover to another treatment for 6 weeks.
Results: The final analysis included 31 patients (mean [±SD] age, 49.
Prognostic significance of the timing in the cardiac cycle of the first (TP1) and second (TP2) systolic peak of the central aortic pulse wave is ill-defined. Incidence rates and standardized multivariable-adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) of adverse health outcomes associated with TP1 and TP2, estimated by the SphygmoCor software, were assessed in the International Database of Central Arterial Properties for Risk Stratification (IDCARS) (n = 5529). Model refinement was assessed by the integrated discrimination (ID) and net reclassification (NR) improvement.

The study participants were hypertensive (clinic systolic/diastolic BP of 140-179/90-109 mmHg and 24-hour ambulatory systolic/diastolic BP ≥ 130/80 mmHg) patients enrolled in a randomized controlled trial and treated with amlodipine 5-10 mg or nifedipine gastrointestinal therapeutic system (GITS) 30-60 mg once daily. Alcohol consumption was classified as non-drinkers and drinkers.

Predictive biomarkers are needed to identify patients who may benefit from immunotherapy. We retrospectively collected tumor tissues from 65 patients with advanced NSCLC before treatment, and performed transcriptomic and genomic analysis.

However, the evolution of CRLM during drug treatment remains poorly elucidated. Multi-omics and treatment response data from 115 samples of 49 patients with CRLM undergoing bevacizumab (BVZ)-based chemotherapy show little difference in genomic alterations in 92% of cases, while remarkable differences are observed at the transcriptomic level.

May Measurement Month (MMM) is a global BP screening campaign, which aims to raise awareness of BP measurement and provide evidence to inform and influence related health policy.
Methods: This cross-sectional survey included individuals aged≥18 years recruited through opportunistic sampling at sites in 60 countries during MMM 2022.

Background: Patients with primary aldosteronism present with renal function decline after unilateral adrenalectomies. Our study aimed to assess the evolution of renal function after adrenalectomy in patients with primary aldosteronism across different age groups and to identify risk factors for postoperative renal function deterioration.
Methods: We included 210 patients with primary aldosteronism categorized into three age groups: <40, 40-60, and ≥60 years old.
Foundation model, trained on a diverse range of data and adaptable to a myriad of tasks, is advancing healthcare. It fosters the development of healthcare artificial intelligence (AI) models tailored to the intricacies of the medical field, bridging the gap between limited AI models and the varied nature of healthcare practices. The advancement of a healthcare foundation model (HFM) brings forth tremendous potential to augment intelligent healthcare services across a broad spectrum of scenarios.

Unlike traditional treatments such as erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs), HIF-PH inhibitors are orally administered drugs and may increase endogenous erythropoietin and improve iron homeostasis. However, a significant concern is their possible side effect on blood pressure.

Methods: This is an observational study of 16,431 community adults with diabetes. The relationship between SBP with major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE) and all-cause death were evaluated using multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazard models and restricted cubic spline.
Unravelling the origin and evolution of precancerous lesions is crucial for effectively preventing malignant transformation, yet our current knowledge remains limited. Here we used a base editor-enabled DNA barcoding system to comprehensively map single-cell phylogenies in mouse models of intestinal tumorigenesis induced by inflammation or loss of the Apc gene. Through quantitative analysis of high-resolution phylogenies including 260,922 single cells from normal, inflamed and neoplastic intestinal tissues, we identified tens of independent cell lineages undergoing parallel clonal expansions within each lesion.

Despite all the improvements in detecting hypertension together with technological advances and affordable, efficacious and relatively free of adverse effects anti-hypertensive agents, we continue to struggle to prevent the onset of hypertension and to control blood pressure (BP) to acceptable targets. The poor control of hypertension is commonly due to non-adherence to medications.

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) can visualize retinal microvasculature and is important to qualitatively and quantitatively identify potential biomarkers for different retinal diseases. However, the resolution of optical coherence tomography (OCT) angiograms inevitably decreases when increasing the field-of-view (FOV) given a fixed acquisition time. To address this issue, we propose a novel reference-based super-resolution (RefSR) framework to preserve the resolution of the OCT angiograms while increasing the scanning area.

Consecutive untreated patients referred for ambulatory BP monitoring were recruited. Standard echocardiography was performed to measure left ventricular structure and function.

Traditional clinic-based BP readings are typically measured infrequently and under standardized/resting conditions and therefore do not capture BP values during normal everyday activity. Therefore, current hypertension guidelines emphasize the importance of incorporating out-of-office BP measurement into strategies for hypertension diagnosis and management.

The study participants were hypertensive patients from 142 community health centers across 16 districts in Shanghai, China, who measured their blood pressure with an automatic office blood pressure measurement platform between 2018 and 2023. The 343,400 hypertensive patients included 53.
