Gastric cancer ranks among the most prevalent malignancies globally, characterized by limited treatment efficacy and high recurrence rates. Effective management of this disease requires a comprehensive understanding of its underlying pathogenic mechanisms. Galectins have emerged as promising targets in gastric cancer therapy, with Galectin-9 (LGALS9) receiving considerable attention in recent years.

The main challenge is implementing the burst-mode DSP to deal with the upstream burst signal. This paper proposes a burst-mode DSP using preambles designed for the 50G PON based on entropy-loading discrete multi-tone (DMT).

A terahertz radiation source based on dielectric gratings driven by free electrons is proposed in this paper. Electrons emitted by the emitter excite spoof surface plasmons (SSPs) when passing above the structure.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Dendrobium (commonly known as Shihu in China), a traditional Chinese medicinal herb recognized in the Pharmacopoeia of China (2020 edition), boasts a rich history of medicinal application. Extensive research has been conducted on its Chinese medicinal prescription due to its demonstrated anti-tumour effects in clinical settings. Dendrobium is comprised of a diverse range of chemical compounds, notably the Bibenzyls, Erianin, and Gigantol, which have exhibited significant inhibitory and therapeutic effects on cervical cancer, thereby suggesting potential therapeutic value.

It is found that the main luminescence peak originated from the excitonic radiative recombination assisted by the longitudinal-optical (LO) phonon, and its integrated intensity first declines as the temperature varies from 10 to 150 K and then turns to increase at ∼160 K, reaching a maximum value at 300 K. A model considering the thermal detrapping and transfer of electrons from a trap level is developed to interpret these abnormal thermal behaviors of the luminescence from the PQDs.

To ensure its global supply, the timing and duration of its growth cycle needs to be closely monitored in the field so that necessary crop management activities can be arranged in a timely manner. Also, breeders and plant researchers need to evaluate growth stages (GSs) for tens of thousands of genotypes at the plot level, at different sites and across multiple seasons.

The HECT-type E3 ubiquitin WWP1 (also known as NEDD4-like E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase WWP1) acts as an oncogenic factor in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells. WWP1 overexpression in AML confers a proliferative advantage to leukemic blasts (abnormal immature white blood cells) and counteracts apoptotic cell death and differentiation. In an effort to elucidate the molecular basis of WWP1 oncogenic activities, we identified WWP1 as a previously unknown negative regulator of thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP)-mediated reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in AML cells.

However, existing designs often neglect energy dissipation in the tensile direction, which is crucial for attenuating tensile load and controlling falling descent. Importantly, current energy-dissipating mechanisms including plastic deformation and friction mechanisms, suffer from drawbacks such as reversibility and self-recovery, restricting their effectiveness under tension.

The quest for versatile, cost-effective, large-scale, and defect-free approaches and materials platforms for tailoring structural and optical properties on demand is underway since decades. A self-assembled spherulite material comprised of synthesized molecules with large dipole moments aligned azimuthally, forming a vortex polarity with spontaneously broken symmetry, is experimentally demonstrated.

The practical use of the HER technology is however hindered by the high price and/or the relatively low efficiency of the currently used catalysts. Herein, we report a heterostructured W/WC electrocatalyst featuring vertically stacked interfaces and embedded in N-doped porous graphitic carbon (denoted as W/WC@N-PGC) as a high-performance electrocatalyst for the HER in a wide pH range.

However, some long-standing and intractable obstacles, like low first coulombic efficiency (ICE), poor rate capability, storage capacity, and cycling stability, have severely hindered the conversion process from laboratory to commercialization. The above-mentioned issues are closely related to Na transfer kinetics, surface chemistry, and internal pseudo-graphitic carbon content.

Herein, based on its wave nature, we developed a wavefunction theory to explicitly describe individual surface plasmon polaritons and the resultant near-field and far-field behaviors, which serves as an efficient platform for high-throughput on-demand design of nanocavities. We found an applicative wavefunction form and proposed a two-body interaction function and a "shell" model for many-body interactions in surface plasmon polaritons' coupling.

Only a few studies focus on the effects of this issue based on short-time LST datasets, which could contain non-negligible uncertainties to summarize reliable rules. To investigate the influence, the SUHI intensity (SUHII) clear-sky bias (CSB), which is defined as the SUHII difference between clear-sky and all-weather conditions, was investigated in 35 cities in China, based on clear-sky and all-weather LST datasets from 2003 to 2022.

Asthma is the most prevalent chronic inflammatory disease of the airways in children. The most prevalent phenotype of asthma is eosinophilic asthma, which is driven by a Th2 immune response and can be effectively managed by inhaled corticosteroid therapy. However, there are phenotypes of asthma with Th17 immune response that are insensitive to corticosteroid therapy and manifest a more severe phenotype.
