Background: The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the necessity for innovative educational methods in nursing. Our study takes a unique approach using a multidisciplinary simulation design, which offers a systematic and comprehensive strategy for developing virtual reality (VR) simulations in nursing education.

Objective: The aim of this study is to develop VR simulation content for a pediatric nursing module based on a multidisciplinary simulation design and to evaluate its feasibility for nursing education.

Article Synopsis
  • - This review examined the effectiveness and quality of studies on infant sleep interventions using actigraphy, a method for objectively tracking sleep patterns in infants in real-life settings.
  • - It analyzed eleven studies, revealing that while most interventions improved sleep outcomes for both infants and parents, the benefits to parents were less consistent; only two studies showed low risk of bias.
  • - The findings highlight the need for better methodological standards and reporting in future research to enhance the assessment of infant sleep through actigraphy.

Purpose: Adolescents are interested in weight control but likely practice unhealthy weight control behaviors. This study aimed to examine weight control behaviors associated with body mass index (BMI) in Korean adolescents.

Design And Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study of 16- to 19-year-old adolescents (97 girls and 90 boys), analyses were conducted of physical activity, sedentary behaviors, dietary behaviors, and self-efficacy for physical activity and diet.

Article Synopsis
  • Involuntary physical activity from avoiding electrical shock improves endurance in animals, but the effects of voluntary stand-up physical activity (SPA) are less understood.
  • A 12-week study with male Sprague-Dawley rats compared a control group to a group encouraged to perform SPA by adjusting food height to promote lifting their body weight.
  • Results showed that the SPA group had lower body weight and improved endurance (higher grip strength, running time, and distance) compared to the control group, suggesting SPA could be a valuable method for enhancing exercise capacity without forced stimuli.

The inhibitory activity of Vigna nakashimae extract against intestinal α-glucosidase was investigated in vitro and in vivo. The extract exerted a significant inhibitory effect against intestinal α-glucosidases. With sucrose-loading, it reduced the peak responses of blood glucose significantly in normal mice.
